Women are the empowerment equipment for what they are, said model and former Miss India-turned-jewelry designer Queenie Singh. She was recently sharing her lifelong experiences with the members of FICCI FLO Ahmedabad Chapter led by its Chairperson Taruna Patel at a live webinar organized by the latter.
In the conversation moderated by Taruna Patel, ex-beauty queen Queenie Singh said, “It is indeed an immense pleasure to be on this platform with so many independent women. Women are the empowerment equipment for what they are and I’m honoured today. I grew up by listening the word FICCI as my father was on one of the committees of FICCI and a prominent businessman from Delhi.”
When asked about her Miss India Journey, she said, “That time being Miss India was a difficult platform to come on. To be a Miss India was to represent the country and that felt me a lot. Miss India was something that I was attracted to, as I wanted to be somebody who represented the country.”
Queenie said, “After winning the crown, joining the film industry was not an option for me as that was not my main reason for entering the Miss India contest. After winning the crown, I did my master’s in mathematics so that I can join my family business. Being the jewelry designer was my passion and I started it by doing it for myself and for my dear and near one’s. The element of designing the jewelry was in me from the beginning. I believed that jewelry should be worn, not for the collection of wardrobe.
On this occasion, Taruna Patel said, “It is a great pleasure to have this styling icon with us. Queenie is a strong, independent, bold and beautiful, and ageless beauty who grabs the attention of the media for many reasons but few that stand out are winning the Miss India title, entering her home business “Jewels by Queenie” and her styling of Hollywood and Bollywood clients. It is very inspiring to hear her journey of being Miss India to being married and then entering into the industry which was her passion from a young age.”
This mathematics graduate-turned-jewelry designer has dressed up the likes of Hillary Clinton, Queen of Morocco, Lara Dutta, Sushmita Sen, Malaika Arora Khan, Kangana Ranaut, Shilpa Shetty, Amrita Arora, Jade Jagger, Lindsay Lohan, Naomi Campbell, Paris Hilton, and many others with her precious gems, beads, and baubles.
