Mahalakshmi Pavani is a Senior Advocate who holds the distinction of being the first woman from Karnataka and the Sixth Woman to be designated “Senior Advocate” by the Supreme Court of India after a Full Court bestowed upon her the coveted ‘Senior’s Gown´  on 23rd April 2015. Mahalakshmi Pavani became the first woman advocate to be nominated by the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India  NV Ramanna on 22nd July 2021 to the Legal Advisory Committee of the Bar Council of India.

Pavani enrolled with the Bar Council of Karnataka on 21st August 1992 and commenced practice under the aegis of the late KC Shivasubramaniam, Advocate, M/s. She has conducted cases and appeared before the Karnataka High Court and before tribunals, quasi-judicial bodies, and other lower courts in Karnataka. In 1993, she was appointed Standing Counsel in the Criminal Court, Mayo Hall.

In 2014, she was elected President of Supreme Court Woman Lawyers Association, a post she continues to hold to this day.
