The recently concluded 6th World Tamil Economic Conference (WTEC) and Chennai Global Economic Summit 2019 (CGES) have urged the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry governments to establish a Tamil Bank and Tamil Venture Capital.
A resolution in this regard was passed at the end of the three-day conference on Monday.
The WTEC also urged the TN Government to establish an exclusive Chair for Tamil in any of the two universities in Dubai, Sharjah, Deogarch, England, France, Malaysia, Russia, Canada, Guyana. It also demanded to establish chairs similar to Harvard University in California and Texas, where thousands of Tamils are living.
Other resolutions passed at the conference were: introduction of direct flight services between Durban and Chennai twice in a week, Johennesburg to Mumbai thrice a week, Cape Town to New Delhi, Penang to Chennai, Jaffna to Chennai, establishing a separate department for Overseas Tami’s Welfare akin to that of Kerala, and reduction of GST for 4 Star and 5 Star hotels to help tourists flying into the country to take part in international conferences and seminars etc.
Earlier, state governor Panwarilal Purohit took part in the valedictory function which was followed by cultural programmes.
The three-day conference was attended by people from all walks of life from various countries.
Conference Convenor and President of the Madras Development Society V.R.S. Sampath welcomed the gathering, Conference Secretary Muthuvel proposed vote of thanks.
