The state-level Yonex – Sunrise Gujarat State Badminton Championship 2023 organized by Blackk and One Sports Foundatio, began at the Eklavya Sports Academy here on Thursday.
The 10-day event is being held from Thursday, June 1 to Saturday, June 10, under the mentorship of Gujarat Badminton Association and Ahmedabad Badminton Association, said Jitendra Yadav, Director, Blackk and One Sports Foundation.
The championship was inaugurated by Mayur Parikh, Joint Secretary, Gujarat Badminton Association, Jitendra M Yadav, Director, Blackk and One Sports Foundation (Assistant Commissioner of Police Cyber Crime, Ahmedabad City) and Romit Arora, Director, Blackk and One Sports Foundation and Monesh Mashruwala.
More than 600 players are participating in this badminton tournament. It will be a knockout format tournament. The players have been divided into different groups U-13, U-15, U-17, U-19 and open categories of single boys, doubles boys, single girls, double girls and mixed doubles. The tournament is being held from 8 am to 9 pm.
Speaking with navjeevanexpress.com, Jitendra Yadav, director of Black and One Sports Foundation, said, “The tournament has started on June 1 in Ahmedabad. U/13, U/15, U/17, U/19 and Open categories of Single Boys, Doubles Boys, Single Girls, Double Girls and Mixed Doubles are going to play in the state-level badminton tournament which is being held at our Badminton Academy. This tournament is being held under the guidance of Gujarat Badminton Association. Black and One Sports Foundation is Ahmedabad’s largest private badminton academy with 5 international level courts. For the tournament, we are using service judging equipments – these machines are used in international level tournaments. The academy has total 3 professional and international level coaches.”
The total prize money in this tournament is Rs 6,50,000 which is the highest prize money for Gujarat level tournament. This prize money will be divided into different categories. In which the first winner will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000, the second winner Rs 7,000 and the third winner Rs 5,000, said Romit Rajkishore Arora and Jitendra M Yadav, directors, Blackk and One Sports Foundation.
