Youth of Rampura Bhankoda, settled in New South Wales, have recently appealed to Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to grant visas to the skilled workers from India.
The appeal was made by a resident of Griffith city, New South Wales, Yogeshbhai Natwarlal Bhatt, Ripalbhai Patel and Rakeshbhai Chaudhary – all Gujaratis and residents of Griffith city..
The trio hails from Rampura Bhankoda in Ahmedabad district and has been living there for many years.
A Daily Telegram Newspaper Bush summit 2022 was held in Griffith recently, where many prominent citizens, including NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet and city council law makers were present.
Bhatt, along with other residents sought visas for skilled workers from India along with other demands.
In his affirmative reply, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has acknowledged how “frustrating” it is for skilled workers waiting to have their visa cleared for Australia.
“They are a handbrake on business activity and (Victorian Premier) Daniel Andrews and (NSW Premier) Dominic Perrottet both wrote to me a little while ago and that is part of the context of having the jobs and skills summit,” Albanese said.
He said he wants to give Australians opportunities, but added: “At the same time, we recognise that the immediate skills shortages need to be dealt with and we will be dealing with those constructively but also we need better planning.”
Albanese said he recognised skilled migration was important to employers, but the government also wanted to invest “in our own workforce”.
