It was a fashion show with a difference. 100 students of the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes at the Department of Fashion & Lifestyle and the Dept of Global Design Programme of the Unitedworld Institute of Design (UID), a constituent college of Karnavati University in Gandhinagar celebrated their work by dedicating an evening of fashion show and fund-raising for special children and cancer survivors at EDGE 2025, a rich tapestry of themes and styles, here on Saturday.
“The key concept this year in Karnavati University is inclusivity. We are making sure that work and presentations of graduating students are around the concept of inclusivity. We believe that inclusive design aims to create products, services, and environments that are usable by as many people as possible, considering diverse needs, abilities, and circumstances. And this academic year end presentation was about such celebrations,” said Ritesh Hada, President, Karnavati University.

EDGE 25 started with a day-long exhibition showcasing the work of the students and culminated with a spectacular ramp show.

The outstanding efforts and creativity of students were celebrated through design awards presented by Rajesh Pratap Singh- ace fashion designer, Dr. Bhanwar Rathore- Founder & Director of BRDS and Umang Hutheesing- culture revivalist.
Director of the Global Design Programme Bose said, “All our students have received placements in reputed apparel firms, Some of them will pursue their higher education in reputed global varsities while the rest will turn into entrepreneurs by setting of their studios and own ventures.”

Awards and accolades
For the B. Design (Fashion Design) programme, the winners included Vrushti Shah for Best Design Collection, Neelai Jain for Most Innovative Collection, Trisha Bhat for Most Responsible Collection and a tie between Anushka Mandot & Ayushi Dilipkumar Bhaskar for the Most Commercial Collection. The awards for the M. Design (Fashion Design) programme included Shreya Chauhan for Best Design Collection & Hiren Savasiya for the Most Responsible Collection.
The thundering applause when 33 children walked the ramp- echoed all across the hall. EDGE 2025 also honoured the beauty of age as middle age models walked the ramp with timeless elegance and grace.
Paying back to the society
This year, EDGE held a special significance as the United world Institute of Design, Karnavati University, championed inclusivity and extended its support to underprivileged and differently abled individuals through Heal the World Foundation (a CSR Wing of Karnavati University) in collaboration with I’m Happiness Foundation by raising fund through this event.
