Conveying to the public that around 32,000 homes have been completed and handed over to the beneficiaries in 2022, PM Modi highlighted how the poor get filled with self-confident when they are least worried about the basic necessities. “Under PMAY, the beneficiaries have a say in the construction of houses where the government transfers the financial aid directly into their bank accounts,” said PM Modi as he upon the geotagging work on such houses.
He also dubbed the houses being constructed under the PMAY as ‘a package of many schemes’ as this house offers a toilet under Swachh Bharat Mission, Electricity connection under Saubhagya scheme, free LPG connection under Ujjwala scheme, piped wanted under JJM. Additionally, free medical treatment and free ration are also not less than a security shield for the poor, he said.
Noting that the cost of building a PMAY house is several lakhs, the Prime Minister said crores of women beneficiaries now stand as millionaires as they have owned any property for the first time. He then congratulated the ‘Lakhpati Didis’.
He also mentioned removal of bad practices and cheating which used to cause serious trouble to the poor and middle-class families. Here, RERA Act has offered legal security to middle-class families for getting the promised facilities when purchasing a house, he said. He also spoke about the unprecedented budget subsidy for housing loans by middle-class families. 5 lakh families were helped thorough this in Gujarat with an assistance worth Rs 11 thousand crore.
PM Modi also stated that tier-2 and tier-3 cities have a lot of potential to give pace to the economy at a time of Amrit Kaal. Basic facilities are being made available in 500 cities under the AMRUT Mission and 100 cities are getting smart facilities, according to the PM. Further, highlighting the amazing work of expanding metro network in the country, PM Modi informed metro network in the country grew 600 kilometers in the last 9 years from 250 kilometers before 2014. “Today, we are giving equal emphasis on Ease of Living and Quality of Life in urban planning… Twin cities like Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar are also being connected by trains like Vande Bharat Express today, and the fleet of electric buses is also increasing in many cities of Gujarat,” he stated.
PM Modi also lauded the water management and water supply model of Gujarat. During his address, he highlighted the extensive water infrastructure in Gujarat, including 3,000 kilometers of water main lines and 1.25 lakh kilometers of distribution lines, which supply water to 15,000 villages and 250 urban areas.
