It was alleged that the Scindia has been upset over his sidelining in the affairs of the MPCC by the Congress leadership for quite some time.
MLAs loyal to Scindia are likely to quit the party to reduce the Kamal Nath-led government to a minority. Soon after Scindia shoots up his resignation letter to party chief Sonia Gandhi, the Congress announced his expulsion from the party and it was approved by its President Sonia Gandhi, a communique from General Secretary K.C. Venugopal said.

Meanwhile, former CM Shivaraj Singh Chauhan, who may return to power if the Kamal Nath government falls in Madhya Pradesh, today refused to comment on the situation. “This is Congress’ internal matter and I would not like to comment on it. We had said on the first day that we are not interested in bringing down the government,” Chauhan said.
On Monday, the Congress government in the state plunged into a crisis as a sulking Jyotiraditya Scindia, along with 17 MLAs, virtually revolted, prompting Chief Minister Kamal Nath to call a late-night cabinet meeting where around 20 ministers resigned reposing faith in his leadership. Nath alleged that the BJP was adopting immoral ways to “destabilise my government” and vowed not to let it happen.

Meanwhile, 18 MLAs from Madhya Pradesh, including 16 Congress rebels were camping at a resort near here amid speculations of infighting in the party’s state unit. Indicating return of resort politics to the city, the MLAs of the ruling Congress in Madhya Pradesh were taken to a resort after their arrival at the HAL airport here on Monday by special chartered flights, BJP sources said on Tuesday. The legislators have arrived here in the backdrop of allegations by the Congress that the BJP was trying to poach its MLAs to topple the Kamal Nath-led government in that state.
“We came to know that in the first flight 10 people arrived and in the second seven had arrived. Of them one is a personal assistant of a CM aspirant,” sources said.
Two MLAs were already in the city. With them there are about 18 MLAs here, they added. The sprawling resort near the International Airport with lush greenery is known for its cousins, comfort and salubrious views.
