The Indian Coast Guard Station Mandapam successfully executed an anti-poaching operation on Sunday, intercepting and seizing a major consignment of illegally harvested sea cucumbers worth ₹58 lakh, according to a press release.
The release said, “Based on specific local intelligence indicating suspicious activity near the beaching point off North Vedalai sea coast, Coast Guard personnel launched a prompt response. The operation led to the seizure of approximately 145 kilograms of sea cucumbers. The estimated market value of the seized consignment, as per open-source data, is approximately worth ₹58 lakhs.”
