The Ahmedabad Medical Association (AMA) Ladies’ Club, a vibrant organisation with a 60-year legacy, witnessed a memorable evening as Dr. Sushila Kella was installed as the new President for 2025–26. The installation ceremony was graced by several eminent dignitaries, including Chief Guest Dr. Nitin Shah, Chairman, Heart Foundation and Research Centre, Guest of Honour Dr. Mehul Shah, President GSB IMA, Guest of Honour Dr. Mona Desai, National President of Women Doctors’ Wing, Past President AMA, Installation Officer Dr. Pragnesh Vachharajani, and Dr. Dhiren Mehta, President AMA.
In her acceptance address, Dr. Sushila Kella expressed deep gratitude and humility at being entrusted with the leadership of such a prestigious institution. She paid tribute to the past leaders whose vision and dedication laid the strong foundation of the AMA Ladies’ Club. “We are all beneficiaries of their hard work, and it is my privilege to carry forward this rich legacy,” she remarked, urging members to applaud the contributions of her predecessors.

Dr. Kella outlined her vision for the coming year under the theme “Nari Tu Vishwa Kalyani” (Woman – the Universal Benefactor). Quoting lines in Gujarati poetry, she emphasised that a woman is the source of light, love, and resilience – comparable to the divine creative power symbolised by goddesses Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati.
She stressed that the AMA Ladies’ Club would focus not only on cultural and entertainment programmes but also on empowering women through financial literacy, community engagement, and recognition of achievements across diverse fields. The club, she said, would actively involve the younger generation, building a bridge between tradition and progress.
Dr. Kella also acknowledged the unwavering support of the AMA, her fellow committee members, past presidents, and her family. “Without their encouragement and strength, this journey would not be possible,” she said.
Her speech, laced with poetry and emotion, concluded with a powerful reminder of women’s indispensable role in family, community, and nation-building:
“Nari tu Vishwa Kalyani,
Nari tu Vishwa Kalyani.
Without a woman, there is no creation, no continuity, no light. She is the trust, the culture, and the strength of every home and every society.”
The evening was marked by warm camaraderie, cultural vibrance, and a renewed commitment to uphold the spirit of women’s empowerment, education, and service to society.
