AHMEDABAD, OCT 6
Gujarat — already a frontrunner in renewable energy, waste-to-energy, and ship recycling — is set to take centre stage in India’s sustainability drive with GREENS 2026 – the Global Recycling Expo & Summit, jointly organised by the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) and SALT Alliances. Scheduled for June 4–6, 2026 at the Helipad Exhibition Centre, Gandhinagar, the mega event coincides with World Environment Day and aims to make India a global hub for circular economy innovation.
Despite being a developing economy, India has set ambitious energy transition and net-zero goals, and GREENS 2026 seeks to accelerate this green momentum by uniting global experts, policymakers, industry leaders, and innovators on one platform. The event will feature 350 exhibitors, 30 thematic sessions, and over 15,000 participants from across the recycling and sustainability ecosystem — including corporates, investors, startups, and government bodies.
With India generating 165 million metric tonnes of waste annually, the need for scalable recycling solutions has never been greater. GREENS 2026 will spotlight cutting-edge developments across material recycling, e-waste, biomedical waste, wastewater recycling, and waste-to-energy, while promoting dialogue on extended producer responsibility (EPR) and circular design.
Gujarat’s exemplary model for the nation
Hosting the summit in Gujarat — a state that treats 85% of its municipal solid waste and has remediated 95% of its legacy waste dumpsites — provides both symbolic and strategic strength. As per Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0 data, Gujarat has remediated 210 lakh MT of legacy waste out of 221 lakh MT from 140 dumpsites. Gujarat’s success underlines the state’s leadership in waste management and sets an example for the rest of the country.
A defining milestone in India’s sustainability journey: GCCI chief
“GREENS 2026 is a defining milestone in India’s sustainability journey,” said Sandeep Engineer, President, GCCI. “Gujarat has consistently led from the front with progressive environmental action, from renewable energy to advanced waste management. This summit will not only highlight pioneering solutions but also build enduring partnerships that convert vision into measurable outcomes. GCCI is proud to partner in this landmark initiative, which will accelerate innovation, stimulate policy dialogue and attract investment — all essential pillars for shaping a truly green economy.”
A vibrant platform where ideas meet action: Ketan Prajapati
Ketan Prajapati, Director, SALT Alliances, emphasised, “GREENS 2026 is more than an event; it is a movement for transforming waste into value. Our goal is to create a vibrant platform where ideas meet action, and where stakeholders across sectors can collaborate to deliver sustainable solutions. We are excited to partner with GCCI to make GREENS 2026 a defining moment for India’s circular economy.”
India’s recycling equipment market to reach $2,641.0 mn by 2030
Adding to this, Aditi Shukla, Director, SALT Alliances, noted, “India’s recycling equipment market, valued at $1,723.4 million in 2023 and projected to reach $2,641.0 million by 2030, reflects the immense growth potential of this sector. GREENS 2026 is designed to catalyse this growth by bringing global technology, finance and policy together on one stage. By fostering cross-border collaboration and encouraging innovation, we want to ensure that recycling is seen not just as an environmental necessity, but as a driver of competitiveness and sustainable economic progress.”
Poised to become a cornerstone of India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 and Net Zero 2070 goals, GREENS 2026 aims to turn waste into a resource and sustainability into a competitive advantage — firmly positioning Gujarat as the green growth engine of India.
