MICA’s Centre for Development Management and Communication (CDMC), in partnership with the Government of Gujarat, has launched a pioneering training initiative titled “Voices in Crisis: Strategic Communication & Reporting for Government Class 3 Officers.”
This specialized program is designed to enhance the communication capabilities of district-level reporters and editors, who play a crucial role in connecting government actions with public understanding. Through focused sessions on crisis communication, effective documentation, storytelling, and social media strategy, the program seeks to empower officers to convey information with accuracy, empathy, and clarity—especially in high-pressure situations.
“In today’s complex information landscape, clear and compassionate communication from the government is the cornerstone of public trust,” said Jaya Deshmukh, Director and CEO, MICA. “MICA is proud to collaborate with the Gujarat government to empower its frontline communicators. This initiative reflects our deep commitment to strengthening governance through effective public communication.”
The training, spread across three two-day batches (Nov 13–14, 20–21, and 27–28), features expert-led sessions covering topics such as “Fundamentals of Crisis Communication,” “Social Media Management,” and “Storytelling for Governance.”
Leading the inaugural session, Prof. Manisha Pathak Shelat, Chair of MICA-CDMC, emphasized, “In times of crisis, communication is not just about delivering facts—it’s about building trust. This program helps government communicators connect with local audiences, manage narratives responsibly, and share stories with authenticity and compassion.”
Through interactive workshops and real-world simulations, the initiative aims to develop officers into credible, community-centered storytellers capable of enhancing public service delivery.
The Voices in Crisis program adds to MICA’s ongoing collaborations with multiple state governments across India, reaffirming its role as a national leader in strategic communication for governance and development.
