The School of International Cooperation, Security and Strategic Languages (SICSSL) at Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) hosted a distinguished international dialogue during the 55th Lavad Confab on National Security, featuring Dr Juan-Pedro Schmid, Counsellor and Head of Economic, Trade and Commercial Section at the Embassy of Switzerland, New Delhi.
Delivering a keynote lecture on “Contours of Financial and Economic Security: The Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) between Switzerland and India as a Framework for Sustainable Growth and Strategic Cooperation,” Dr Schmid offered deep insights into the shifting global financial landscape. He underscored how TEPA is emerging as a catalytic framework for advancing bilateral trade, fostering innovation-led partnerships, and strengthening long-term economic resilience between the two nations.
Highlighting the growing intersection of economics and national security, Dr Schmid said strategic economic cooperation now forms a critical pillar of global security architecture, influencing how countries navigate financial risks, plan development, and engage in economic diplomacy.
Earlier, Dr Aparna Varma, Director, SICSSL, welcomed the gathering and emphasised the Lavad Confab’s role in fostering high-level academic–policy dialogues. She noted that such interactions enrich the university’s learning ecosystem by bringing global perspectives into discussions on national security, strategy and development.
The session was attended by school directors, faculty members, students and army personnel, who engaged in a dynamic discussion on TEPA’s implications for India–Switzerland cooperation, economic stability, and future strategic engagements.
