AHMEDABAD, DEC 2

In a significant direction aimed at strengthening accountability in digital crime investigations, the Gujarat High Court has instructed the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Department to promptly act on a long-pending complaint concerning online harassment.
The complaint was filed on June 17, 2025, by Kapil Momraj Sharma, who alleged receiving objectionable and harassing messages on social media. The representation named Pranay Singh Bhadoriya, Pankaj Singh Prasoon, and others as accused.
During the hearing of R/Special Criminal Application (Direction – To Lodge FIR/Complaint) No. 13649 of 2025, Justice M. R. Mengdey took note of the delay.

Appearing for the petitioner, advocate Prashantkumar R. Sharma submitted that despite repeated follow-ups, the Cyber Crime authorities had not acted on the representation. Representing the State, Himanshu K. Patel, Additional Public Prosecutor, acknowledged the pendency.
After hearing both sides, the Court directed the Cyber Crime Department to decide the petitioner’s representation dated 17.06.2025 “as expeditiously as possible, preferably within eight weeks” from the receipt of the order.
The Court underscored that timely response is crucial in cases involving harassment and intimidation on social media, especially as digital offences continue to surge.
With these directions, the petition was disposed of.
