Reinforcing its role as India’s most trusted last-mile service provider, the Department of Posts continues to play a pivotal role in delivering financial, digital and citizen-centric services to rural and remote areas under its guiding motto ‘Dak Sewa–Jan Sewa’, said Postmaster General, North Gujarat Region, Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav.
Chairing the FY 2025–26 performance review meeting at the Regional Office, Ahmedabad, Shri Yadav underlined the importance of timely achievement of targets, innovation-driven growth and enhanced citizen outreach, while reviewing divisional performance across North Gujarat.
Highlighting India Post’s transformation, he said the integration of latest technologies, digital initiatives and youth-oriented services has strengthened trust in post offices as centres of governance, inclusion and convenience. Post Office savings schemes continue to attract widespread public confidence due to secure investment options and attractive interest rates.
The review covered Mail Operations, Parcels, International Mail, Savings Bank, Postal Life Insurance (PLI), Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI), Philately, and citizen services including Aadhaar and Passport Seva. Officers were encouraged to work with dedication and enthusiasm to sustain growth momentum.
As part of its financial inclusion drive, North Gujarat Post Offices opened 5.83 lakh new savings accounts, 18,600 Sukanya Samriddhi Accounts, and 75,000 India Post Payments Bank accounts during the current financial year. Insurance deposits stood at ₹160 crore under PLI and ₹34 crore under RPLI, while postal operations generated over ₹65 crore in revenue.
India Post also enabled 1.97 lakh Aadhaar services, facilitated 42,500 passports, issued 27,024 digital life certificates at citizens’ doorsteps, and developed 1,002 ‘Sampoorna Sukanya Samriddhi Grams’, 691 ‘Sampoorna Bima Grams’ and 227 ‘Sampoorna Bachat Grams’ across the region.
Shri Yadav noted that under the vision of Union Minister of Communications Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Gujarat’s first Gen-Z Post Office at IIT Gandhinagar has become a youth magnet. The rollout of Advanced Postal Technology 2.0 has accelerated digital payments, supporting the national vision of Digital India and a cashless economy.
He further highlighted the India Post–ONDC MyStore partnership, which is revolutionising parcel booking and delivery. A pilot free warehousing facility at Ahmedabad GPO is empowering small manufacturers and social sellers. Enhanced Speed Post and parcel services, real-time tracking, OTP-based delivery, Gyan Post for students, doorstep pickup, packaging services and digital payments are redefining customer experience.
