At a ceremony held at the iconic Bombay House on December 16, Tata Motors announced a special gesture of recognition for the world champions—each member of the title-winning squad and support staff will be awarded a Tata Sierra, the newly unveiled model positioned as an “icon reimagined”. The tribute symbolised strength, independence and aspiration—values that the women’s team embodied throughout their World Cup campaign.
- Indian Women’s Cricket Team feted at Bombay House after historic ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 triumph
- Each champion to receive a Tata Sierra, celebrating confidence, choice and women’s power
- Victory seen as a defining inspiration for young girls and the future of Indian sport
The event was graced by Tata Group’s senior leadership, including N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., and Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and CEO, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., reaffirming the Group’s long-standing commitment to Indian sport and women’s empowerment.
Recalling how sporting moments shape generations, Chandrasekaran drew a powerful parallel between India’s 1983 World Cup moment and the women’s triumph of 2025. He said the victory on November 2, 2025, would be etched forever in the memories of a new generation of children, just as 1983 inspired legends of the men’s game.
He lauded the women’s team for playing with joy, courage and relentless belief, forcing opponents to fight for every run and every wicket. “Nothing was gifted, and nothing was taken for granted,” he said, praising the culture of excellence built through years of perseverance, experimentation, setbacks and success.
More than a trophy, he said, the team delivered a powerful message—of collective strength, shared responsibility and belief in dreams. Each match, he noted, had a different hero, underlining the importance of teamwork and the power of women standing together to achieve the extraordinary.
“Their victory will reverberate through the choices of our youth,” Chandrasekaran said, adding that young girls across the country would now have a living example of what persistence, confidence and ambition can achieve. “This women’s team gave the next generation something to aim for—a memory of pure happiness, and a dream of one day surpassing it.”
As part of the initiative, Tata Motors confirmed that players would have the flexibility to choose the Sierra variant that best matches their personal preferences, making the recognition both meaningful and empowering.
The felicitation stood as a salute to women’s power—on and off the field—celebrating champions who not only lifted a World Cup, but also lifted a nation’s spirit and redefined what is possible for Indian women in sport.
