In exciting aviation news for passengers travelling from Gujarat, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA), Ahmedabad, has been officially connected with the newly operational Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) through a direct IndiGo flight service — launched on the very day NMIA began commercial operations.

The inauguration of the Ahmedabad-to-Navi Mumbai connection was celebrated with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony, cake cutting and a ceremonial first boarding pass presentation, underscoring the importance of this new route in strengthening air connectivity between western and central India.

Representatives from Immigration, CISF, IndiGo, and the airport authorities came together to mark the launch, reaffirming their shared commitment to enhanced connectivity, seamless passenger experience, and aviation growth. The direct flight link now enables travellers from Ahmedabad to conveniently access NMIA — India’s newest greenfield airport, which commenced its commercial operations on December 25, 2025 with flights operated by IndiGo, Air India Express, Akasa Air and Star Air to multiple destinations.
This new route not only adds more choice and flexibility for air passengers but also supports the expanding aviation infrastructure of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), as NMIA eases congestion and serves as a modern gateway for travel across the country.
