A strong message on road safety awareness and responsible road behaviour resonated across the campus of Sir Bhavsinhji Polytechnic Institute, Bhavnagar, as Rotary Club of Bhavnagar Vibrant organised an intensive Road Safety Seminar on Tuesday, aimed at shaping safer, more alert future road users.

The seminar focused on sensitising students to traffic safety, accident prevention and civic responsibility, stressing that road safety is as much about attitude as it is about rules. Traffic trainer Ajaysinh Jadeja, Traffic Police Inspector H. G. Katariya and RTO Inspector M. T. Makwana shared practical insights on traffic regulations and everyday risks on Indian roads.

Addressing the students, the speakers underlined the life-saving importance of wearing helmets and seat belts, strictly avoiding mobile phone use while driving, respecting traffic signals and road signs, and understanding the fatal consequences of overspeeding. They also explained the correct response during road accidents, highlighting how timely action by bystanders can prevent loss of life.

Beyond preventive awareness, the seminar moved into emergency response and survival skills. CPR and basic first-aid training were conducted by Sumit Thakkar from the Red Cross.
Students were given hands-on demonstrations on administering Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) during emergencies and were trained to bandage injuries using a triangular scarf—an essential first-aid technique at accident sites.

A live demonstration of a first-aid kit followed, with each item explained in detail so that students could understand its purpose and proper use during road accidents or medical emergencies. This practical exposure significantly boosted the students’ confidence to act decisively in critical situations.

Club President Namrita Chadha and club member Krishna Shah were also present at the programme. Namrita Chadha reiterated that road safety education among youth is crucial to reducing accidents and building a culture of responsibility on Indian roads.
The seminar emerged as a holistic road safety initiative, equipping students not only with knowledge of traffic rules but also with life-saving skills, reinforcing Rotary Club of Bhavnagar Vibrant’s commitment to community welfare, youth education and safer roads.
