Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), Gandhinagar, resonated with patriotism, pride and purpose as it hosted a grand Army Day Celebration 2026, paying tribute to the courage, sacrifice and unwavering commitment of the Indian Army. Organised by the School of Internal Security, Defence and Strategic Studies, the event marked a historic first for the university—honouring the nation’s unsung heroes through knowledge, technology and national unity.

At the heart of the celebrations was the “Army Day Static Display 2026”, a stirring exhibition of the Indian Army’s operational strength and technological excellence. Visitors witnessed frontline equipment including T-72 tanks, BMPs, field guns, ISAT, URRF and LORROS, under the compelling theme “Networking and Data Centricity.” The display powerfully reflected India’s evolving defence doctrine—where integrated networks, real-time data and indigenous innovation define strategic primacy.
Indian Army Day, observed annually on 15 January, commemorates the historic moment in 1949 when Field Marshal K. M. Cariappa became the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army. The occasion honours generations of soldiers who have safeguarded India’s sovereignty with courage, discipline and supreme sacrifice.
Leadership Speaks: Shared Values, Shared Destiny
The event was chaired by RRU’s Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Registrar and Dean, alongside Prof. Saket Kushwaha, Vice-Chancellor, University of Ladakh. The Guest of Honour, Brigadier Rajesh Kumar, Commander, 85 Infantry Brigade, graced the occasion with a stirring address.
Welcoming the gathering, Dr. Dharmeshkumar Prajapati, Registrar, RRU, highlighted the deep alignment between the Indian Army’s core values of service, leadership and integrity and RRU’s academic vision.
Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, RRU, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to the national mission of Atmanirbharta, emphasising the growing role of MSMEs and startups in defence indigenisation and exports. He recalled NSA Ajit Doval’s assertion that “cyber security and secure communication are not optional,” underscoring RRU’s responsibility in innovation, research and delivering deployable solutions for the armed forces.
The Soldier’s Call to the Youth
In a deeply inspiring address, Brigadier Rajesh Kumar spoke of the discipline, courage and sacrifice that define the Indian Army. He highlighted the symbiotic bond between the military and the nation, vividly demonstrated during Operation Sindoor, and reminded the audience that the Army’s true strength flows from the people it protects.
Addressing students as the “warriors of the modern age,” he urged them to look beyond conventional battlefields to emerging domains of cyber, space, information warfare and the battle for hearts and minds. He concluded with a powerful reminder: while technology matters, it is men and women with values who make the ultimate difference—calling upon youth to be good humans, patriotic citizens and responsible nation-builders.
From Celebration to Sustained Collaboration
Delivering the concluding remarks, Prof. (Dr.) Kalpesh H. Wandra, Pro Vice-Chancellor, RRU, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Indian Army for enabling meaningful interaction with students and faculty. He emphasised RRU’s resolve to transform such engagements into long-term collaboration in research, training and national service.
Conducted in close partnership with the Indian Army, Army Day Static Display 2026 reaffirmed RRU’s growing stature as a bridge between academic excellence and real-world defence operations. The event ignited young minds, exposed them to cutting-edge military technologies, and inspired careers in defence innovation, security technology and strategic studies.
As RRU advances towards becoming India’s premier institution for national security, defence technology, research and leadership development, Army Day 2026 stands as a defining milestone—where steel met spirit, and education marched hand-in-step with the nation’s guardians.
