Paying a stirring tribute to India’s armed forces, Rajnath Singh hailed the unmatched courage and commitment of soldiers, calling Operation Sindoor a “golden chapter” in the nation’s military history.
Addressing the ‘Shaurya’ event in New Delhi ahead of the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, Defence Minister underlined that the operation reflected the government’s firm resolve to combat terrorism with decisive action under the leadership of Narendra Modi.
“Our soldiers use weapons to protect their people, and deliver food & medicines to those in need during the times of crises. This is the defining characteristic of our Defence Forces,” he said.
Emphasising the enduring ethos of the armed forces, Rajnath Singh noted that values such as ‘Nation First’ and ‘Service Before Self’ have guided India’s military traditions from ancient times to modern operations like Operation Sindoor.
He also highlighted the humanitarian dimension of the armed forces, noting their role as first responders during natural disasters both within India and abroad.
Where Valour Meets Art
The ‘Shaurya’ event brought together top defence leadership, serving personnel, and celebrated artists, creating a unique confluence of courage and culture. Performances by noted artistes added emotional depth to the tribute.
“Valour and art are often viewed as opposites, but they, in fact, complement each other. They are powerful expressions emanating from human emotions,” Defence Minister observed.
He further pointed to the role of music in military life, stating that marching songs foster unity and transform individual identity into collective strength—a sentiment deeply embedded in the ethos of the forces.
Among those present were General Anil Chauhan, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Rekha Gupta, Rajesh Kumar Singh and Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth.
The event stood as a solemn yet inspiring reminder of the courage, sacrifice and humanitarian spirit that define India’s defence forces.
