In a landmark recognition for India’s rapidly evolving aviation infrastructure, Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) has secured a coveted place on the global design map, with Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) and Terminal 2 of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA), Guwahati, being named in the Prix Versailles World’s Most Beautiful Airports List 2026.
The prestigious international honour celebrates architectural excellence and innovative airport design, underscoring AAHL’s growing stature in creating world-class aviation hubs that seamlessly blend aesthetics, sustainability, technology and passenger experience.
Presented annually at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris since 2015, the Prix Versailles is among the world’s most respected architecture and design awards, recognising newly developed airports and terminals that embody a rare synthesis of creativity, cultural identity and environmental responsibility.
The inclusion of two AAHL airports in the elite global list marks a significant milestone for Indian aviation infrastructure, reflecting the company’s commitment to building airports that serve as engines of economic growth, tourism promotion and regional transformation.
At the heart of the recognition is Navi Mumbai International Airport’s Terminal 1, whose striking lotus-inspired architecture symbolises India’s cultural heritage while embracing futuristic design principles. The terminal integrates advanced technology, art and operational efficiency to create a globally benchmarked passenger gateway that mirrors the aspirations of a modern and globally connected India.
Equally celebrated is Terminal 2 of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, whose architectural philosophy draws inspiration from the ‘Bamboo Orchid’, reflecting the rich biodiversity and cultural ethos of Northeast India. The biophilic design combines sustainability with functionality, creating an environmentally responsive and visually distinctive terminal experience.
The Prix Versailles awards honour projects that promote “intelligent sustainability,” where architecture goes beyond environmental considerations to celebrate culture, innovation and human experience.
The 2026 list also features acclaimed airports and terminals from Guangzhou (China), Frankfurt am Main (Germany), Kandal Stueng (Cambodia), Pittsburgh (United States) and San Diego (United States), placing AAHL’s airports among an exclusive league of global architectural landmarks.
Later this year, three projects from the shortlisted airports will be selected for the coveted World Titles in the categories of Prix Versailles, Interior or Exterior, further elevating the significance of the recognition.
The dual honour reinforces AAHL’s strategy of developing next-generation airport ecosystems that transcend conventional transportation infrastructure, positioning airports as iconic urban landmarks that enhance passenger experience while catalysing economic development and regional connectivity.
