When thousands of hands rise with the Tricolour and thousands of hearts beat to one national rhythm, a march becomes much more than a procession—it becomes a powerful expression of India’s unity, pride and indomitable spirit. Gandhinagar turned into a sea of saffron, white and green on Monday as citizens, students, youth, NCC cadets, public representatives and security personnel came together for a spectacular State-level Tiranga Yatra, carrying the message of patriotism from every street to every heart.
Launching the grand march, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel called for the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign to evolve into a mass movement of ‘Har Dil Tiranga’, urging citizens to carry the spirit of the national flag not merely in their hands, but in their hearts.
The Yatra, organised by the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation and district administration, began at G-6 Circle and proceeded towards Akshardham Temple, covering a 2.4-km route that reverberated with patriotic music, cultural performances, police bands and the thunder of Nashik dhols.
A Tricolour wave sweeps the capital
The Yatra was launched in the presence of Gujarat BJP president Jagdish Vishwakarma, Education Minister Dr Pradyuman Vaja, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, legislators, Gandhinagar Mayor Miraben Patel, Chief Secretary M.K. Das and senior government officials.
Large numbers of students, young people and citizens participated enthusiastically, turning the State capital into a vibrant celebration of national pride.
The patriotic fervour reached another level with a spectacular Daredevils Show by Gujarat Police personnel, which emerged as one of the major attractions of the Yatra.
A striking display of discipline, courage and physical prowess, the performance added a powerful security-forces dimension to the celebrations.
‘Har Dil Tiranga’: CM’s call to the nation
Patel said the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign was launched to celebrate the priceless freedom secured by India and to keep alive the sacrifices of the freedom fighters.
He said the Tiranga Yatra represents the unity and integrity of the nation and that carrying the Tricolour while holding patriotism in one’s heart helps realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Ek Bharat–Shreshtha Bharat’.
The Chief Minister said: “The Tiranga Yatra is a journey of the unity and integrity of the nation. When we join this Yatra with the Tricolour in our hands and patriotism in our hearts, the vision of ‘Ek Bharat–Shreshtha Bharat’ given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi becomes a reality.”
He emphasised that the Yatra carries a special message for the younger generation—to understand the sacrifice, perseverance and martyrdom of India’s freedom fighters, draw inspiration from their lives and nurture the spirit of ‘Nation First’.
Youth, freedom & the India of 2047
Patel called upon citizens to make the Tiranga Yatra a catalyst for a renewed national commitment towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
He said: “We have to commit ourselves from today through this Tiranga Yatra to the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047. We have also been given the opportunity to live for the nation and place Bharat Mata at the pinnacle of glory, and we must fulfil this opportunity with a Nation First resolve.”
The message resonated particularly strongly among the young participants, for whom the Tricolour represented not merely the memory of Independence, but a responsibility towards the India of the future.
The Yatra, organised across the country from August 9 to 17 under the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is aimed at awakening an enduring spirit of national service and encouraging every citizen to contribute their best towards the nation.
‘The Tricolour is our immortal symbol’
Gandhinagar Mayor Miraben Patel, welcoming the gathering, said the national flag was far more than a piece of cloth bearing three colours.
She said: “The national flag is not merely a piece of cloth with three colours; it is an immortal symbol of our national pride, unity, integrity and unparalleled valour.”
She said the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, launched under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inspiring call, had ignited an enduring flame of patriotism in the hearts of people.
Mayor expressed confidence that the historic Tiranga Yatra in Gandhinagar would further strengthen the sacred resolve of ‘Nation First’ and reaffirm the people’s commitment to the unity and integrity of India.
595 NCC cadets march with pride
Adding youthful energy and military discipline to the celebration, 595 cadets of NCC Directorate Gujarat (Ahmedabad Group) proudly participated in the #TirangaRally at Gandhinagar.
Their synchronised march under the Tricolour symbolised the values of discipline, leadership, patriotism and service that the NCC seeks to instil among India’s youth.
The presence of NCC cadets, students and young citizens gave the Yatra a distinct generational character, linking the sacrifices of the freedom movement with the responsibilities of the nation’s future citizens.
A city united by one flag
The 2.4-km route came alive with a vibrant combination of cultural programmes, police band performances and Nashik dhols, creating an atmosphere charged with patriotic energy.
The Daredevils Show by Gujarat Police personnel provided a spectacular display of courage and skill, while the presence of citizens carrying the Tricolour transformed the capital into a moving canvas of national pride.
The Yatra was attended by a large number of public representatives and senior officials, including Gandhinagar District Panchayat president Rajeshbhai Patel, legislators Alpesh Thakor, Ritaben Patel and J.S. Patel, Gujarat Child Rights Commission chairperson Dharmishthaben Gajjar, Principal Secretary Jayanti Ravi, Secretary Sanjeev Kumar, Gandhinagar Standing Committee chairman Gaurangbhai Vyas, Deputy Mayor J.B. Thakor, Opposition Leader Anilsinh Vaghela, Whip Sejalben Parmar, Municipal Commissioner J.S. Prajapati, Collector Ravindra Khatale, District Development Officer D.K. Brahmbhatt, CRPF DIG Dharmendra Singh and Range IG Virendra Singh Yadav, among others.
As the Tricolour fluttered across Gandhinagar and voices rose in patriotic celebration, the State capital delivered a resonant message: the strength of India lies not merely in the flag it flies, but in the unity, responsibility and national spirit of the people who carry it.
