ICG personnel and their family members actively involved in plogging event to eradicate usage of plastic in Sector -13 in Gandhinagar on December 7.
ICG’s North West Headquarters has organised the event from their living block to the welfare centre, an area covering 2 square km.
A release from Defence PRO said, the plogging event “Plastic se Raksha – Swachhta hi Suraksha” was inaugurated by Inspector General G. Rakesh Pal, PTM, TM Commander, Coast Guard Region (NW) in the presence of Deputy Inspector General Rajesh Makwana, TM & BAR, Chief of Staff.
In its efforts to promote and publicise the Govt. of India’s mission to make aware and enlighten about the ill-effects of plastic bags, stop using them to improve our environment and save it from degradation, Plastic bags are major source of plastic pollution, as they are non- biodegradable, and take years to decompose
The ICG personnel also sensitised local population on the ill effects of plastic and promoted the alternative to plastic carry bags in the surrounding areas.
The response from the local population was very positive and overwhelming. ICG will continue its efforts to eradicate usage of plastic, the release added.
