The coronavirus tally in Gujarat rose to 1,44,027 with the addition of 1,327 new cases on Monday, while more than 1,400 patients were discharged following recovery, the state health department said.
The death toll increased to 3,512 with 13 more patients succumbing to the viral infection, it said.
At the same time, 1,405 COVID-19 patients were discharged on Monday, taking the number of recovered cases to 1,23,770, the health department said.
The state has achieved a recovery rate of 85.94 percent, the department said in a release here.
Surat reported 276 new cases, the highest for a district in Gujarat, followed by Ahmedabad (187). Two other districts that reported over 100 new cases are Rajkot (155) and Vadodara (124), the release said.
Among other districts, Jamnagar reported 90 cases, Patan 48, Mehsana 43, Gandhinagar 39, Banaskantha 34, Bhavnagar 32, Junagadh 31, Amreli 30, Kutch 27, Morbi 22, Panchmahal 20, Surendranagar 19, Bharuch and Mahisagar 16 each, Gir Somnath 15, Anand, Dahod, Narmada, Porbandar and Sabarkantha 11 each, among others, it said.
Surat also reported the highest number of five deaths in the last 24 hours. Ahmedabad reported three fatalities, Vadodara two, Bhavnagar, Mahisagar, and Rajkot one each, said the release.
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation on Monday added three new micro-containment zones and cleared 23 old ones.
The number of active cases in the state now stood at 16,745, with 94 patients on ventilator support, it said.
A total of 57,513 tests were conducted in the state for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, at a rate of 884.82 tests per day per million population, pushing the number of samples tested so far to 47,02,776, the release said.

Surat: 276 COVID-19 cases, 5 deaths, 290 discharged on Monday
Surat’s tally of coronavirus positive cases rose to 29,595 with 276 new cases recorded on Monday, the highest for any area in the state, while five deaths increased the toll to 956, an official said.
Of the new cases, 172 were in city limits, which also accounted for 175 of the 290 people who were discharged during the day, he added.
So far, 20,280 people have been discharged within city limits, giving it a recovery rate of 90.6 percent.
Surat Municipal Corporation officials said 597 paan shop owners were subjected to coronavirus tests, and five of the reports returned positive.
“Rs 80,900 was collected in fines in a single day from people not wearing masks and violating social distancing norms,” he said.
The SMC said 30,052 people are quarantined while 8,73,534 people have been surveyed in areas where new cases have been reported.
In rural Surat, Kemrej taluka leads with 84 deaths followed by 38 for Olpad and 34 for Choryasi, while Umarpada has recorded only one fatality.
