Over the years, the autumn festival of Navratri has metamorphosed into an event of stupendous scale with faithful Hindus the world over coming together to sing, dance, and make merry. The coronavirus pandemic has put a brake on this festival last year.
Having observed Vibrant Gujarat’s son Narendra Modi thinking out-of-the-box to innovate, ideate and implement various welfare measures when he was the state CM and now as the PM, following his footsteps, Mini-India of Ahmedabad, South Bopal-based Gala Glory Cooperative Housing Society has decided to celebrate this Festival of Maa Shakthi with renewed vigour and innovative ways, say the festival committee members here on Tuesday.
Speaking with the media, festival committee chairman Ashish Gambhir, said, “We have been organizing the garba for the last 4 years during the Navratri festival. Last year we could not hold the same owing to the pandemic. To make up this, this year we have decided to organize sheri garba in different and unique ways while maintaining its purity. We will strictly follow all COVID SOPs and guidelines issued by the state and the central governments to ensure the safety of our entire society involved in this divine festival. It will be fun and frolic on all these nine days for kids to elders of all age group.”
Talking about the uniqueness of the garba event at society, secretary Diwaker Pandya, said, “Garba is a popular folk dance of Gujarat and is performed with passion and fervour during the Navratri festival which will start on October 7. Looking at the present scenario and festival time, we have organized the 9- day garba event in our Gala Glory society only for the members’ family and no outsider will be allowed. Over 90 percent of the society members have got both doses and and follow all the norms of COVID-19. We are presenting all forms of traditional garba for age groups. All the works like decoration, light and sound, music and the singing will be taken care of by society members only. Our society women have been doing garba practice for the last one month and also teaching the small kids. However, we have invited the DJs for week-end performance.”
Nenshi, Cultural Team Coordinator-girls, said, “We have been imparting garba skills to our kids so that they can showcase their talent.And all the children are very much exited during the five-hour-long training. We will have kids garba performance, Boy and Girls Garba Performance, traditional ladies garba dance, family garba dance, best kid dancer, best girl dancer, best female dancer, best male dancer, best couple dancer, best traditional dress- kids, best traditional dress – female, and the best traditional dress – male. Exciting gifts await all.”
