The Border Security Force (BSF) has apprehended a total of six Pakistani fishermen so far after the intrusion of Pakistani fishing boats was detected in Gujarat’s Kutch district Wednesday. The BSF said an operation is underway to find if there are any more Pakistani boats and nationals who have intruded into Gujarat in Harami Nalla area.

“The intrusion of Pakistani fishing boats and fishermen was detected yesterday in Harami Nalla, Gujarat. Gujarat Frontier, BSF immediately launched a massive search operation in the area spread across 300 sq km. As a result, 11 Pakistani fishing boats have been seized so far,” the BSF has said earlier on Thursday.

The boats were seized in the creek area of Harami Nalla along the Indo-Pak maritime border.
As per the BSF, Pakistani fishing boats and fishermen were found to have intruded into the general area of Harami Nalla on February 9. “During overnight search operations, 11 Pakistani fishing boats were seized,” they said.
The BSF said three groups of commandos were airdropped by helicopters belonging to the AIr Force from three different directions to close in on where the intruders were hiding.

“We have deployed our ‘Creek Crocodile Commandos’ from an Indian Air Force helicopter to search for hiding fishermen in the creek area of Bhuj. The commandos are part of a specialised unit of the BSF for patrolling and operational duties in the creek areas of the Rann of Kutch,” an officer was quoted as saying.
Sources said the operation was being impeded by the extreme marshy area, mangroves and tidal waters.
“Extreme marshy areas, mangroves and tidal waters are making the task of the troops challenging. The operation is in progress,” he further said.
GS Malik, IPS, IG BSF, Gujarat Frontier, is personally monitoring the massive search operation.
