Jay Rajyaguru, a student of Aakash BYJU’S, Ahmedabad, scored 706 in NEET UG 2022, secured AIR 16 and became the Gujarat state topper. Rajyaguru, who is hailing from a family of doctors, is hopeful of obtaining a seat in AIIMS Delhi and becoming a surgeon in the future.
With this accomplishment, Jay is about to become the latest member of his family to study MBBS. Both his parents and his sister, the only sibling, are doctors – and so is his maternal grandfather.
Jay joined Aakash BYJU’S for two-year classroom NEET coaching after he decided to step into families’ shoes in Class XI.
- His parents, both doctors, trusted Aakash BYJU’S for their son’s NEET coaching, knowing too well of the institute’s unparalleled track record in converting medical aspirants into medical students
- Jay got nearly 100% scholarship for his two-year NEET coaching program, as he obtained AIR 18 in Aakash National Talent Hunt Examination
- Incidentally, 52 of the Aakash students are among the country’s 100 toppers.
- Delhi boy Vatsa Ashish Batra has bagged the NEET AIR 2 with 99.99th percentile.
Having seen the kind of respect his parents got from the society, Jay decided to follow in their footsteps, when he was in eighth grade. “I looked up to my father as a role model. He is a renowned urologist. Even though I liked engineering almost equally, growing up in a family of doctors titled the scale in favour of medicine,” he says. As a child, Jay had a special liking to wearing a surgeon’s mask and cap. He also loved watching surgeries online.
Jay got nearly 100% scholarship for his two-year NEET coaching program, as he obtained AIR 18 in Aakash National Talent Hunt Examination. He was so determined to achieve his dream that he traveled 70 kms every alternate day, for months, from his home in a small town in Mehsana district to the Centre of Excellence of Aakash BYJU’S in Ahmedabad to get his doubts cleared from his teachers. Jay had a conducive environment at home, where “no one talked about medicine”. But every relative is a specialist in a branch of medicine in his own and extended families. Hence, he could turn to them for a chat on their specialization. “In my classes I never hesitated to ask questions, however silly they may appear to others. I think developing an in-depth understanding of a subject is very important, and that often means going beyond NCERT books,” he opines.
As the Covid pandemic was in rage, Jay had to complete his NEET coaching at Aakash BYJU’Smostly through online classes. “I must note that Aakash BYJU’S organised online classes so swiftly that I hardly experienced any disruption in my education. The classes were as real as in person classes. I also had the opportunity to have one-on-one classes whenever required for doubt clearing. My teachers were very supportive and lifted my spirit when I scored low in class tests,” he recollects. Jay played badminton, tried photography, and watched crime or thriller movies during his leisure time.
Congratulating Jay Rajyaguru on his achievements in the NEET exam, Aakash Chaudhry, Managing Director, Aakash BYJU’S, said, “I am very happy for Jay who has made his family proud. We feel lucky to have trained a focused student like him for NEET. He is an obedient student and followed the instructions of his teachers very sincerely. What we liked the most in him is his positive attitude and inquisitive nature, evident from the way he asked meaningful questions and active participation in classroom interactions. We wish him all the best for his future endeavors.”
This year 9,93,069 students have qualified the medical entrance exam. The toppers this year have attained 715 marks out of 720 and 4 students have bagged top position with 99.99th percentile. Incidentally, 52 of the Aakash students are among the country’s 100 toppers.
