An All India Car Rally of the National Security Guard (NSG) – ‘Sudarshan Bharat Parikrama’ that commenced on October 2 in New Delhi has reached Chennai on Tuesday.
The team which started from New Delhi on Gandhi Jayanthi (October 2, 2021), reached Chennai via Lucknow, Varanasi, Gaya, Jamshedpur, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Gopalpur, Vijayawada, Hyderabad and Ongole.

Colonel Umesh Rathod, who heads the team, said that they were accorded a warm welcome by the people of Tamil Nadu who received them at the State’s border areas with ‘Jai Hind’ and ‘Mahatma Gandhi Vaazhga (Jindabad)’ chants.
Twelve officers and 35 commandos of NSG are part of this rally of 15 black Tata Harrier’s (Sports Utility vehicles). Colonel Umesh Rathod said they visited cities and villages on their route and learnt the cultures and traditions of people in various parts of the country.
During the 7,500 km long journey, the NSG car rally will pass through important and historical places associated with the Freedom Movement and Freedom Fighters of the Nation in 18 cities of 12 states and culminate on October 30 at the Police Memorial in New Delhi.
The team, which would leave for Bengaluru from Chennai on Wednesday, would reach Delhi via Mumbai and Ahmedabad by covering a total distance of around 7,500 kms, Colonel Rathod informed.
The rally in Chennai would be flagged of by Dr Amalraj, Director from Tamil Nadu Police Academy at Oomanancherry, Vandalur – Kelambakkam Road on Wednesday, according to PIB.
