AHMEDABAD, MAR 28
In a rare confluence of devotion, culture and spiritual awakening, Ahmedabad is set to host a grand celebration of Mahavira Janma Kalyanak on Monday, March 30, with twin Rath Yatras, a first-ever Jain concert, and a star-studded Kavi Sammelan forming the highlight of the Mahotsav.
Organised by the Bharatvarshiya Teerthakshetra Committee, the celebrations will culminate at the Kundalpur Nagari Auditorium Hall at GMDC Ground, Vastrapur, from 7:00 pm onwards.
Twin Rath Yatras to Echo Message of Peace
Two grand Rath Yatras will traverse the city—one from CG Road to GMDC Ground and another from Sukhramnagar to the Football Ground in Kankaria—symbolising the spread of Lord Mahavir’s timeless message of non-violence, compassion and universal harmony.
“A Festival Beyond Faith, A Call for World Peace”
Chairman Paras Jain Baj said, “This Mahotsav is not merely a religious celebration; it is a movement to spread Bhagwan Mahavir’s message of Ahimsa, truth and coexistence. In today’s world, his teachings are the strongest foundation for global peace.”
Vice President Rajeshbhai Shah noted, “The twin Rath Yatras will connect hearts across Ahmedabad, carrying the divine message from streets to souls. We invite every citizen to be part of this spiritual journey.”
General Secretary Rishabhkumar Jain added, “We have curated a programme that blends devotion with culture—where spirituality meets expression through poetry, music and ritual.”
Coordinator Nareshbhai Shah said, “From the grand arrival of Bhagwan Mahavir to the Maha Aarti, every moment is designed to create a divine experience for devotees.”
Coordinator Ratanbhai Patni remarked, “The inclusion of a Jain concert is a first-of-its-kind initiative, bringing younger generations closer to spiritual values through music.”
Shiromani Patron Shobhag Mal Ji Kataria shared, “The visual recreation of Maharaja Siddharth and Mata Trishala’s royal court will offer devotees a glimpse into the divine birth celebrations, making it both immersive and inspiring.”
Star-Studded Evening of Devotion & Expression
The evening will feature celebrated poet Shailesh Lodha performing in his signature style, alongside humorous poet Govind Rathi and international satirist Chetan Charchit.
Adding a musical dimension, noted artist Vaibhav Bagmar will present a devotional ‘Jain Concert’—a pioneering fusion of faith and contemporary sound.
Divine Rituals & Spiritual Grandeur
Devotees will witness the celestial arrival of the Lord, the sacred cradle ceremony, and the grand Maha Aarti. A spectacular depiction of the royal court of Maharaja Siddharth and Mata Trishala, along with the symbolic حضور of kings and queens of 24 empires, will elevate the spiritual fervour.
The event will be graced by Monaben Khandhar, Principal Secretary, as the Chief Guest.
Mahavir’s Teachings for Today’s World
The Mahotsav underscores the eternal relevance of Mahavir’s teachings—Ahimsa (non-violence), Satya (truth), Aparigraha (non-possessiveness) and Anekantavada (pluralism)—as guiding principles for a peaceful and sustainable world.
The organisers have extended a warm invitation to the entire Jain community and citizens of Ahmedabad to participate in this spiritually enriching and culturally vibrant celebration.
