Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Friday launched a blistering attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), branding it a “parasite that survives on others’ tragedies” and a “washing machine for the corrupt.” Speaking in Ramanathapuram after inaugurating development projects, Stalin accused the Union government of political opportunism in the aftermath of the Karur stampede that claimed 41 lives, including women and children.

“The BJP is like a parasite that survives by sucking the blood of others,” Stalin charged, alleging that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who did not visit Tamil Nadu after three major natural disasters, had “now rushed to Karur only for political mileage.”

- Tamil Nadu CM accuses Centre of neglecting state’s rights, and vows Dravidian model will prevail while unveiling ₹738 crore projects in Ramanathapuram
- Stalin criticises the AIADMK, accusing it of betraying Tamil Nadu’s interests by aligning with the BJP
- He alleges the Centre had failed to support critical research projects like Keezhadi, while the DMK government remained committed to Dravidian governance
He added: “The BJP has become a washing machine, where those facing corruption charges enter tainted and come out whitewashed.”
On fishermen’s rights and state’s interests
Highlighting long-standing issues of attacks on Tamil Nadu fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy, Stalin said: “We continuously condemn these attacks, but the Union government does not take any action to protect the fishermen. The DMK government even passed a resolution in the Assembly urging the Centre to intervene, but it refused.”
He also criticised the AIADMK, accusing it of betraying Tamil Nadu’s interests by aligning with the BJP.
Economic and education policies under fire
Stalin lashed out at the Centre’s economic and education policies, stating that GST had “deprived Tamil Nadu of its financial rights,” while NEET and the National Education Policy (NEP) had “hindered progress and denied equal opportunities to the state’s students.”
He alleged the Centre had failed to support critical research projects like Keezhadi, while the DMK government remained committed to Dravidian governance.
“The Dravidian model of governance will prevail, and we will work tirelessly to make Tamil Nadu a leading state in the country,” Stalin asserted.
Development push in Ramanathapuram
Amidst the political attack, Stalin also highlighted his government’s development record, inaugurating projects worth ₹738 crore in Ramanathapuram district. He detailed that 46,270 projects worth ₹3,250 crore were underway in the district, while key new facilities included:
- The renovated Ramanathapuram railway station

The CM further noted that his government had rolled out welfare schemes for women, farmers, children, and fishermen:
- 2.36 lakh women receiving the Women’s Rights Allowance
- Support extended to over 8 lakh farmers
- Daily nutritious breakfast for 83,483 schoolchildren
- 1.85 lakh fishermen benefitting from state schemes and cooperative loans worth ₹57 crore distributed to 81,518 beneficiaries
