Asha Gamit, sub-inspector from the Gujarat Police becomes the first woman trained by the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) amongst the 13 probationer sub-inspectors.
Training on Coast Guard operations started on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at Headquarters Coast Guard Region (NW) Gandhinagar, wherein marine-related and coastal security subjects were taught, a Defence press release said.
Later on Saturday, January 25, 2020 trainees were deputed to the Coast Guard District Headquarter No.1 at Porbandar for acquaintance and sailing onboard Indian Coast Guards ship.
ICG has been training Marine Police personnel, however, this was for the first time Gujarat Police has been trained by ICG.
The closing ceremony concluded with the award of certificates and memento in the presence of ICG senior officials, trainers, and SP, Gandhinagar.
