Chennai branch of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), a statutory body functioning under the aegis of Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India, on Friday All India First Licence Awarding Ceremony.
To honour and appreciate the efforts of five Tamilnadu-based manufacturing units, All India First Licence were awarded which saw the participation of more than 100 invitees.
- BSI operates various schemes like Product Certification (ISI mark), Management Systems Certification, Hall Marking of Gold and Silver Jewellery/Artefacts and Laboratory Services
- BIS certification is primarily voluntary in nature.
- It is up to the manufacturers to take up certification for quality of the products against a particular Indian Standard
USP Yadav, Scientist-F & Deputy Director General (Southern Region), BIS delivered the Inaugural address and G Bhavani, Scientist-E/Director & Head (BIS-Chennai Branch Office) explained the Programme objectives. The recipients of the Awards shared their experiences.
BIS certification is primarily voluntary in nature. It is up to the manufacturers to take up certification for quality of the products against a particular Indian Standard. It is a matter of pride that the following five manufacturers in the jurisdiction of BIS Chennai Branch Office have become the first to take up certification for their products and become pioneers in maintaining quality.
All India First Licence has been granted for the product of “Stainless Steel Vacuum Flasks” as per IS 17526:2021 to Butterfly Gandhimathi Appliances Ltd, Chengalpattu.
All India First Licence has been granted for the product of “Ophthalmic Phacoemulsifier / Vitrectomy device for ophthalmic surgery” as per IS/IEC 80601 (PART 2: SEC 58): 2016 to M/s. Appasamy Associates Private Limited, Chennai.
All India First licence for the product Thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs) has been granted to M/s. Covestro (India) Private Limited, Cuddalore
All India First License has been granted for the product Linear Alkyl Benzene as per IS 12795: 2020 to M/s. Tamil Nadu Petroproducts Limited, Tiruvallur.
All India First License has been granted for the product Corrugated Metal Flexible Safety Gas Hose Assemblies in accordance with IS 17814:2022 to M/s. Madras Hydraulic Hose Pvt Ltd, Gummidipoondi.
BSI operates various schemes like Product Certification (ISI mark), Management Systems Certification, Hall Marking of Gold and Silver Jewellery/Artefacts and Laboratory Services for the benefit of the industry and in turn aiming at consumer protection.
