Bureau of Indian Standards, the National Standards Body of India on Friday inaugurated 39 Standards Clubs of various departments under Anna University. The clubs were inaugurated by G Bhavani, Scientist-E/Director & Head (Chennai Branch Office) & Dinesh Rajagopalan, Scientist-C from BIS.

BIS in association with the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, Anna University conducted a conclave at TAG Auditorium, Anna University, Chennai on Friday.
Dr. R. Velraj, Vice Chancellor – Anna University; Dr. Vikram Kapoor IAS, Additional Chief Secretary & Director – Anna Administrative Staff College; Kaoru Sriraishi, Director General, Japan External Trade Organization; Dr. GS Mahalakshmi, Director I/C, Centre of Entrepreneurship Development – Anna University addressed the participants.
BIS has taken the initiative of creating Standards Clubs in educational institutions comprising teachers and students as members. Through a variety of activities under these Clubs, young talents get learning opportunities in the field of quality and standardization.
Teachers have an important role in the activities of the Clubs and would serve as beacons of light, guiding and motivating students to channelize their creativity and enhance their scientific temperament. The Standards Clubs have already garnered prominence and are being enthusiastically promoted by educational institutions to supplement and improve the schooling experience of students and provide opportunities to better their professional and personal growth.
