Amidst nationwide lockdown in India, owing to the COVID-19 virus, Ashok & Rita Patel Institute of Physiotherapy (ARIP), affiliated to CHARUSAT University, Changa, Gujarat has set a new record, perhaps the first by any higher education institute in the state, by holding online admission process for MPT for the academic year 2020-21, says a CHARUSAT release.
“ ARIP initiated a new approach for online examination and counseling sessions to get admission into the course of Master of Physiotherapy (M.P.T.). The implementation of such a new online admission process has been carried out for the first time in Gujarat by CHARUSAT University’s Ashok & Rita Patel Institute of Physiotherapy (ARIP). With such a new approach to the admission process, all the seats for the master’s degree programme have been filled under the guidance of Dr. Balaganapathy, Principal, ARIP,” the release added.
It is noteworthy that CHARUSAT University has been a pioneer in various academic fields, and once more it has carried out such a unique approach for admission to the Master of Physiotherapy (M.P.T.) programme through online examination and counselling for the academic year 2020-21. The entire process of holding exams, preparing the merit list, offering counselling was carried out through the aid of live video sessions.
Commenting on this state’s first academic feat, Dr. Balaganapathy said, “In the present scenario, when online teaching-learning is also being carried out continuously, our institute organized online sessions to offer admissions to students in Master of Physiotherapy (M.P.T.) programme for the academic year 2020-21. In the beginning, applications were invited for admissions under five specializations: Musculoskeletal Sciences, Neurological Sciences, Cardiopulmonary Sciences, Pediatrics, and Rehabilitation. Students and parents were counselled online by our faculties who guided them seamlessly to reduce their stress, and at the same time advised them with proper instructions. Based on the online applications received, a mock online exam was conducted for the applicants to get used to the system, and then MCQ based online examination was conducted and the merit list was displayed on the website of CHARUSAT University. For the first time in Gujarat, our Institute and University have been successful with such a new approach.”
By judiciously adopting the evolving technology in Digital India, CHARUSAT University has made efforts to reduce the stress of the students and parents by offering admission to the students ‘online’, sitting at home during the lockdown, Dr Balaganapathy added.
