A 64-year old woman died of COVID-19 in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday taking the toll due to the disease to seven in the state while 69 more people tested positive as the tally rose to 690, an official of the Health Department said.

The woman, who died at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital here, had co-morbid conditions like hypertension and diabetes, Health Secretary Beela Rajesh said.
With this, the number of COVID-19 deaths in the state has risen to seven. Of the new positive cases, as many as 63 were returnees of the jamaat meet held in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area recently, she added.

As many as nine people were tested positive for coronavirus in Kerala on Tuesday, taking the total number of active cases to 263.
Of this, the worst affected Kasaragod reported four cases, Kannur three, Kollam and Malappuram one each, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told reporters here after a review meeting on COVID-19.
Samples of 12 people returned negative for the deadly virus on Tuesday, he said. While four of the nine people had returned from abroad, two had attended the Tablighi Jamaat conference in Delhi and the others contracted the virus through contacts with infected people.
The total number of COVID cases in the state has touched 336. As many as 1.40 lakh people are under observation in the state with 752 in various hospitals.

Karnataka reported 12 new coronavirus positive cases, including four Tablighi returnees, during the last 19 hours to take the total cases in the state to 175, an official said on Tuesday.
Among the new cases on Tuesday, four are Tablighi returnees and three are contacts of earlier Tablighi returnee patients.
“Till date, the 175 positive cases reported includes 25 discharged patient and four deaths,” a health official said. The 12 new cases emerged between 5 pm on Monday to Tuesday noon.
As many as 143 corona patients, including a pregnant woman, are isolated in designated hospitals across the state and are stable, except three who continue to be critical.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka government notified eight more hospitals as dedicated Covid facilities located at Raichur, Bidar, Kodagu, Mandya, Hassan, Belagavi, Dharwad and Koppal.
The eight hospitals add 1,540 more isolation beds, 250 ICU beds and 130 ventilators to the state facilities to takcle coronavirus.
One Covid-19 death reported in AP, toll rises to 4
Ten fresh cases of coronavirus were reported in Andhra Pradesh through the day on Tuesday, taking the tally to 314 even as the government announced the death of a 45-year-old person in Kurnool district, pushing the overall toll to four.
The total number of coronavirus cases in the state now touched 314 while the active cases remained at 304, the latest bulletin said. Of the 10 cases detected on Tuesday, eight were from Guntur district and one each from SPS Nellore and Kadapa. All these cases are related to the Tablighi Jamaat attendees and their contacts. The 45-year-old person in Kurnool did not have any travel history but was admitted to the government hospital with symptoms of the virus on April 1 and he tested positive. He was also said to be suffering from Type-2 diabetes and he died on April 3, the state nodal officer Arja Srikanth said.
In all, six patients had recovered from the disease and been discharged from hospitals. With 74 cases, Kurnool topped the chart in the state followed by SPS Nellore with 43 and Guntur with 41. The two north coastal districts of Srikakulam and Vizianagaram remained unaffected by the pandemic so far, with zero cases.
23-day-old baby found positive for COVID-19 in Telangana
A 23-day-old baby is among three COVID-19 cases reported at Mahabubnagar in Telangana on Tuesday, all of whom have been infected from the Tablighi Jamaat event returnees. With this the total number of people in the district who have been infected has reached 10, officials said. All the three cases are found to have been infected by those who returned after attending the religious congregation in Delhi, an official press release said.
The district administration has taken up measures, including identifying the primary and secondary contacts of persons who tested positive, quarantining people, restricting movements in localities and spraying disinfectants to contain the spread of the virus, it added.
The total number of active positive cases in Telangana cumulatively was 308, according to an officials.
