CHENNAI, SEPT 25
The Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA), the inter-services body of the Ministry of Defence entrusted with ensuring the quality and reliability of military equipment, is celebrating its Raising Day this week.
Established on 27th September 1957, the DGQA has, for nearly seven decades, been at the forefront of maintaining stringent quality standards for equipment supplied to the Indian Armed Forces and paramilitary forces. This includes rigorous testing of tanks, combat vehicles, arms and ammunition, communication and control systems, utility items, and specialised high-altitude clothing.
- Directorate General of Quality Assurance continues its vital role in strengthening India’s defence preparedness
- Through industry outreach programmes, vendor registration, guidance, and facilitation initiatives, DGQA helps industries align with government schemes and contribute to India’s defence ecosystem.
In Chennai, the Headquarters Directorate of Quality Assurance (Combat Vehicles), Avadi, along with other DGQA establishments, will mark the celebrations on 26th September 2025, as the 27th falls on a holiday.
Beyond testing and inspection, DGQA plays a pivotal role in fostering Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) in defence production. Through industry outreach programmes, vendor registration, guidance, and facilitation initiatives, DGQA helps industries align with government schemes and contribute to India’s defence ecosystem.
The organisation’s focus on quality assurance not only strengthens the operational readiness of the armed forces but also enhances trust in indigenous defence manufacturing, reinforcing India’s journey towards self-reliance in defence production.
