The trailer of ‘Scene’, director Jithu Madhavan’s much-anticipated Tamil film starring Suriya, has arrived with a potent cocktail of action, mystery and irreverent humour. Released on Saturday, October 31, the trailer has given fans a lively preview of the film, which is scheduled to reach theatres worldwide on November 6, just ahead of Deepavali.

Setting the mood himself, Suriya shared the trailer on X with a message that captures the film’s contrasting flavours:

“Murder. Mystery. Madness… and a whole lot of laughter! Enjoy #Scene in theatres with friends and family! With love from us to you. In cinemas from 6th Nov 2026! #DiwaliRelease.”

The promise is clear: this is no conventional cop-versus-criminal face-off. The trailer teases a battle of wits in which a maverick officer, a calculating antagonist and a mysterious woman could turn every expectation upside down.

When the cop refuses to play by the rules

Suriya plays Inbaraj, a police officer whose decision to resign catches his seniors, colleagues and subordinates off guard. Rather than treating his departure as a routine administrative matter, his superior officer Stephen, played by Lal, repeatedly orders him to report to the office.

Inbaraj, however, appears far more interested in relaxing at home than obeying departmental instructions.

When repeated orders fail, Stephen sends policemen to bring the reluctant officer in. The men arrive expecting compliance, only to encounter a distinctly unconventional response.

When one officer warns Inbaraj that he has been instructed to carry him if necessary, the maverick raises his arms and legs as though inviting the policemen to lift him. They eventually do just that, carrying him to his superior’s office.

It is an absurdly funny situation that establishes the character’s defiance without a conventional action-packed introduction.

The comedy continues when Stephen asks Inbaraj what he plans to do after quitting the force. His answer — that he intends to enter politics — adds another mischievous twist to the exchange.

The dialogue has also drawn attention because it appears to allude indirectly to actor Vijay’s move into politics. The moment brings topical humour into a trailer already brimming with unpredictable exchanges.

A criminal who thinks he has met his match

The laughs soon give way to a darker contest with the introduction of Eeswaran, played by Naslen.

Portrayed as a sharp, ruthless and calculating criminal, Eeswaran is no ordinary adversary. The trailer suggests that bringing him to justice will require an officer capable of matching his intelligence and anticipating his moves.

Eeswaran appears to regard Inbaraj as a worthy opponent. But the police officer is in no hurry to accept the comparison.

“Am I your equal?” he asks, delivering a line that sharpens the anticipation surrounding their confrontation.

The makers had earlier offered a glimpse of Naslen’s character through a separate promotional video, presenting Eeswaran as a chilling predator. One of the lines attributed to him in the supplied promotional material is:

“Don’t be scared. I won’t kill you. Get the vehicle started.”

The contrast between Eeswaran’s cold menace and Inbaraj’s irreverent attitude appears central to the film’s dramatic tension. Whether their clash ultimately unfolds as a battle of brains, a deadly game of survival or a combination of both remains a question for the big screen.

Nazriya’s Maya: More than meets the eye?

Nazriya Nazim’s character, Maya, adds another layer of intrigue.

The trailer initially shows Inbaraj placing an advertisement for a house help, with Maya arriving in response. But the apparently ordinary introduction soon gives way to glimpses of her performing stunts in action sequences.

That shift raises an intriguing question: what lies beneath Maya’s first impression?

The trailer does not reveal everything about her role, but the action glimpses suggest that she could be more than a supporting presence in Inbaraj’s world.

With Suriya’s unpredictable police officer, Naslen’s menacing criminal and Nazriya’s mysterious character occupying the centre of the narrative, ‘Scene’ appears designed to keep audiences guessing while switching gears between comedy and action.

Jithu Madhavan’s world meets Suriya’s star power

The film brings together Suriya and Jithu Madhavan, whose previous Malayalam films include ‘Romancham’ and ‘Aavesham’. The director’s approach to eccentric characters and offbeat humour has helped build curiosity about his Tamil directorial outing.

‘Scene’ was earlier referred to as Suriya 47, reflecting its place in the actor’s filmography. It is produced by Suriya and Jyotika under the banners of Zhagaram Studios and 2D Entertainment.

The principal cast includes Suriya, Nazriya Nazim, Naslen and Lal, alongside Anandraj and Raj Priyan.

The technical team features cinematographer Vineeth Augustian, music composer Sushin Shyam, editor Ajmal Sabu, production designer Ashwini Kale and stunt choreographer Chethan D’Souza. The combination brings together performers and technicians from different strands of South Indian cinema.

The film’s promotional campaign has already offered glimpses of its musical side, including the tracks ‘Aathi Iva Yarraa’ and ‘Aeroplane’, the latter featuring Suriya and Nazriya.

The countdown to a Deepavali showdown

With its worldwide theatrical release scheduled for November 6, 2026, ‘Scene’ is positioning itself as a major Deepavali-season attraction for Suriya fans.

The trailer’s appeal lies in its mix of contrasting elements: an officer who treats authority with irreverence, a criminal who thrives on calculated menace, a woman whose capabilities remain partly concealed, and a story that appears equally comfortable with laughter and danger.

The makers have offered enough to trigger curiosity without giving away the complete mystery. Now the real test awaits in theatres: can Inbaraj outwit Eeswaran, what role will Maya ultimately play, and will Jithu Madhavan successfully fuse his offbeat storytelling style with Suriya’s mass appeal?

For fans awaiting a festive big-screen treat, the countdown has begun. ‘Scene’ is ready to turn the Deepavali weekend into a game of mystery, mischief and mayhem.
