An 88th birthday celebration turned into a celebration of a healthcare vision, as SIMS Hospital Vadapalani unveiled three new initiatives designed to make healthcare more personalised, accessible and experience-driven. On the occasion of the birthday of SRM Chancellor T. R. Paarivendhar, SIMS launched the SIMS Aesthetic Institute, SIMS Vista — an exclusive OPD block for VIPs — and the Hello Dr App at a function held at SIMS Hospital here on Monday.

The triple launch brought together a new-generation multidisciplinary aesthetic care centre, a premium outpatient experience and a digital healthcare access platform, signalling the institution’s effort to address changing patient expectations across clinical care, convenience and technology.
The highlight of the new ventures is the SIMS Aesthetic Institute (SAI), conceived as a dedicated destination for comprehensive aesthetic surgery and aesthetic medicine. Its defining feature is the integration of four specialist disciplines — Plastic Surgery, Dermatology, Cosmetic Obstetrics & Gynaecology, and Maxillofacial & Dental Surgery — under one roof.
The launch also carried a deeply personal dimension for Paarivendhar, who expressed his pride in the contributions of his sons and their role in taking forward the institutions he has built.
A father’s pride, a legacy in motion
Addressing the gathering, T. R. Paarivendhar, Founder-Chancellor, SRM Group, said he felt privileged to have children who had excelled in their respective fields and were contributing significantly to the administration and development of the institutions.
Referring to Dr Ravi Pachamuthu, Chairman, SRM Group, and Dr. P. Sathyanarayanan, Pro Chancellor of SRMIST & SRM University, AP, and President of the SRM Group, he quoted the celebrated couplet from the Thirukkural:
“மகன் தந்தைக்கு ஆற்றும்உதவி இவன்தந்தை
என்னோற்றான் கொல்எனும் சொல்”
The couplet conveys the profound idea that the greatest service a son can render his father is to make people wonder, “By what great penance did his father beget such a son?”
Paarivendhar said he was privileged to have gifted children who had carved out excellence in their respective domains while contributing to the administration of the institutions.
The occasion also saw Paarivendhar cutting a birthday cake in the presence of officials, adding a warm celebratory note to a function otherwise marked by the unveiling of new institutional initiatives.
Beauty without boundaries: A new aesthetic model
The SIMS Aesthetic Institute seeks to move aesthetic healthcare beyond isolated cosmetic procedures towards a holistic, multidisciplinary and personalised approach.
Its services will cover a wide spectrum of surgical and non-surgical interventions, including facial aesthetics, body contouring, breast aesthetics, skin and hair care, cosmetic gynaecological procedures, and maxillofacial and dental aesthetics.
Paarivendhar said aesthetic medicine was undergoing a fundamental transformation.
“Aesthetic medicine is moving beyond the pursuit of isolated cosmetic enhancements towards a more holistic understanding of aesthetics, where appearance, proportion, function and well-being are considered together,” he said.
He noted that patients were increasingly seeking solutions across multiple areas of appearance and well-being, making multidisciplinary expertise increasingly important.
“As patients increasingly seek solutions across the face, skin, hair, teeth, body, breast and intimate areas, the future of aesthetic care lies in bringing diverse specialties together around the individual rather than treating each concern in isolation. SAI has been envisioned around this philosophy,” Paarivendhar said.
The objective, he stressed, was not to impose a standardised concept of beauty.
“Our aim is not to prescribe a universal definition of beauty, but to give patients access to the expertise and choices needed to achieve their own aesthetic aspirations — while preserving natural proportions, function and, above all, safety,” he said.
When the patient, not the procedure, leads the journey
Dr Ravi Pachamuthu, Chairman, SRM Group and Chairman, SIMS Hospitals, said the future of aesthetic healthcare would depend increasingly on how intelligently different specialties work together.
“The future of aesthetic care will be defined not by individual procedures or specialties, but by how intelligently they come together around the patient,” he said.
At SAI, he said, the patient’s aesthetic goals would be assessed holistically before the appropriate specialists are brought into the treatment pathway.
“We envision an integrated model in which a patient’s aesthetic goals are assessed holistically and the right expertise is brought together, whether from Dermatology, Plastic Surgery, Maxillofacial Surgery or Cosmetic Gynaecology, to create a personalised treatment pathway,” Dr Pachamuthu said.
He added that the growing convergence of surgical and non-surgical aesthetics made such a multidisciplinary approach increasingly relevant.
“The philosophy is simple: the patient’s needs should determine the specialist and the treatment, rather than the specialist determining what the patient needs,” he said.

Dr Raju Sivasamy, Vice President, SIMS Hospital, said aesthetic medicine should respect the uniqueness of every individual.
“Every individual has different anatomy, expectations, cultural influences and aesthetic preferences. Our objective is to understand what each individual wants and determine what can be achieved safely and naturally,” he said.
