Highlighting the transformative role of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Krishna Kumar Yadav, Postmaster General of North Gujarat Region, said that Navodaya institutions continue to uphold the timeless ethos of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” while blending quality education with strong human values.

Speaking on the occasion of Navodaya Foundation Day, he underlined that education remains the cornerstone for building a prosperous and capable India. “Education is the light through which a prosperous, capable, and Viksit Bharat can be built. Despite being a Government institution, Navodaya Vidyalaya stands at the forefront today due to their excellence in education and outstanding examination results,” he said.

Tracing its journey from humble beginnings on April 13, 1986, with just two schools to a vast network of 661 institutions, Yadav noted that Navodaya is now completing 40 years of impactful existence. He emphasised that a nationwide network of over 17 lakh alumni stands ready to guide society towards a new direction.

“Inspired by the principles of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ and ‘Shiksharth Aaiye, Sevarth Jaiye,’ Navodaya instills a sense of nationalism that transcends caste, religion, and region,” he said.

A pioneer among civil servants from Navodaya, Yadav recalled his own journey after clearing the Union Public Service Commission examination in 2001 and serving across the country for over two decades. Reflecting on his roots, he said, “Had I not studied in a Navodaya, I might not have reached this position.”

Expressing deep pride in his alma mater, he added, “Navodaya has given us so much; it is now time to ‘Pay Back to Society’.” He highlighted that Navodaya taught students that dreams are not merely to be seen but to be lived—with struggle, discipline, and dedication.

Recently recognised among the Top 25 Changemakers of 2025 by Bureaucrats of India, Yadav noted that many Navodaya students, primarily from rural backgrounds, have reached remarkable heights across sectors.

“The credit goes to the core spirit of Nav Uday—where all differences such as caste, religion, rich and poor, and urban and rural are set aside, and everyone moves forward together with a positive mindset towards a new path,” he said.

Describing the Navodayan bond as unique and enduring, he remarked, “Navodayan spirit is a priceless bond… It is not merely a group, but a unique family where, despite belonging to different states or districts, the emotion, sense of belonging, and sweetness of shared memories remain the same for all.”

An officer of the Indian Postal Service and a noted author and blogger, Yadav emphasised that Navodaya Vidyalayas play a pivotal role in shaping India’s future. “The way Navodayans stand by each other in times of happiness and sorrow not only inspires admiration but also instills a deep sense of pride,” he said.

He further added, “With the spirit of ‘Hami Navodaya Hon’, Navodaya has today emerged as a strong brand. It has not only provided high-quality education to talented children from rural India but has also instilled in them self-confidence, values, and a deep sense of service to the nation.”

Reiterating the institution’s vision, he said that Navodaya aims “to provide good quality modern education—including a strong component of culture, inculcation of values, awareness of the environment, adventure activities, and physical education—to the talented children predominantly from rural areas, without regard to their family’s socio-economic conditions.”

The guiding motto “Pragyanam Brahma”—a Mahavakya from the Aitareya Upanishad meaning “Consciousness or knowledge is the ultimate reality”—continues to reflect Navodaya’s unwavering commitment to excellence in education.
