AHMEDABAD, OCT 30

Can a stage performance inspire a generation to build a nation? Sardardham believes the life and legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel can do much more than evoke patriotic memories — they can motivate young people to pursue enterprise, public service, leadership and social responsibility. As India marks the 151st birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, the Ahmedabad-based organisation is placing theatre at the heart of a year-long campaign to carry his ideals beyond the auditorium and into homes, educational institutions and the wider community.

The campaign opens with the staging of the Hindi play “Sardar – The Architect of United India”, featuring nationally acclaimed actor Manoj Joshi, on Saturday, October 31, at 7.45 pm. The performance will take place on the ground adjacent to Sardardham Phase-2 Girls Hostel in Ahmedabad. The organisers expect more than 5,000 people to attend. Entry is strictly by invitation.

The play, which has been presented at leading theatres in Mumbai and other states, seeks to bring alive Patel’s extraordinary contribution to India’s national integration and inspire audiences across generations. The staging is being positioned as the cultural centrepiece of Sardardham’s year-long observance of the 151st birth anniversary.

From one evening to ‘Har Ghar Sardar’

The theatrical presentation is only the beginning. Through its ‘Har Ghar Sardar’ campaign, Sardardham plans to distribute literature and spread awareness about Patel’s life, leadership and contribution to nation-building throughout the birth anniversary year.

The idea is to take the story of the architect of united India beyond commemorative events and make his values relevant to contemporary challenges. The campaign will seek to encourage young people to draw inspiration from Patel’s resolve, organisational ability and commitment to national unity.

The timing is significant. October 31 is observed nationally as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, commemorating Patel’s birth anniversary and reaffirming the commitment to India’s unity, integrity and security. The Government of India’s official observance of the 151st anniversary in 2026 provides a wider national context for such initiatives.

Global convention to turn connections into opportunities

Moving from inspiration to economic opportunity, Sardardham has announced its International Convention in Ahmedabad from January 7 to 9, 2027. The three-day gathering is expected to bring together business leaders, entrepreneurs, professionals, startups and members of the global Patidar community.

The opening ceremony on January 7, from 5 pm to 7 pm, is planned in the presence of 10,000 business leaders from India and abroad. January 8 will feature eight industry-wise seminars, followed by ‘Ek Shaam NRI Ke Naam’, from 5 pm to 8 pm, to encourage dialogue on business opportunities in India and overseas. Eight more sector-wise seminars are scheduled for January 9, before the closing ceremony from 4 pm to 8 pm.

The organisers plan to present the conclusions of the convention and announce the venue and dates of the next Global Business Summit and Convention. The official Sardardham convention announcement confirms the January 7–9 dates and identifies networking, collaboration, investment, entrepreneurship and employment as key objectives.

Mission-2047: Building entrepreneurs and public leaders

The larger ambition is reflected in Sardardham’s Mission-2047 roadmap, which seeks to mobilise a fund of ₹10,000 crore and accelerate social, educational and economic development. The organisation has outlined five major pillars: establishing Gurukulams, a university and specialised academies for 30,000 students; creating affordable hostel facilities for 30,000 youth; preparing 30,000 aspirants for GPSC, UPSC, judiciary and defence services; generating ₹30,000 crore in business volume through the Global Patidar Business Summit (GPBS); and strengthening the ‘Samaj Jodo Abhiyan’ through a network of one lakh youth volunteers.

The thrust on entrepreneurship is intended to encourage young people not merely to seek jobs but also to create enterprises, generate employment and build business partnerships. The proposed business initiatives are expected to provide opportunities for networking, mentorship, collaboration and exposure to domestic and international markets.

Women’s empowerment and civil services in the spotlight

The organisation’s wider development agenda also places emphasis on women’s education, professional advancement, self-employment and entrepreneurship. Its stated goals include encouraging women to pursue higher education and supporting them in building independent livelihoods and enterprises. Its existing Civil Service Centre, meanwhile, provides guidance for aspirants preparing for GPSC, UPSC, judiciary and defence careers.

By bringing these strands together — cultural inspiration, educational access, career preparation, entrepreneurship and women’s empowerment — Sardardham seeks to translate the message of Sardar Patel into a sustained programme of institution-building and youth participation.

The larger test of the year-long campaign will be how effectively the inspiration generated by a play reaches beyond the stage and translates into opportunities, confidence and action among the next generation. For Sardardham, the message is clear: remembering Sardar Patel must also mean building the capable, united and self-reliant India that he envisioned.
