Kaviarasu Kannadsan’s “Naalai mudhal kudikka maattaen
Sathiyamadi thangam
Innikki raathirikku thoonga vaenum
Ootthikkiren konjam…” and Nadaigar Tilagam Padmashri Sivaji Ganesan’s acting prowess in ‘Vasantha Maaligai’ had thrown light on the ill-effects of liquor addition.
(நாளை முதல் குடிக்க மாட்டேன்
சத்தியமடி தங்கம்
இன்னைக்கு ராத்திரிக்கு தூங்க வேண்டும்
ஊத்திக்கிறேன் கொஞ்சம்….)
‘Glassmates’ reiterates this message of the need to giving up liquor addiction in much more relevant manner after a half century of lifting prohibition in ‘Kalvi Sirantha’ Tamil Nadu. The core plot of the movie revolves around the drinking habit affects a person and his family members.
- This film deserves tax exemption so as to spread the good message of awareness against liquor addiction
- This film with a good message was produced by sociopreneur Angaiyar Kannan under the banner Mughavai Films International and written & directed by actor ‘Kuttypuli’ Saravana Sakthi

The story revolves around Ramanathapuram…
The sequence of Ramanathapuram’s glories at the very beginning of the film took the viewers into a kind of positive area.
Both Angaiyar Kannan and Saravana Sakthi are close friends. The two become close friends only in drinking alcohol.
It has been a few days since Angayar Kannan got married. Despite living as a responsible husband with a beautiful wife, he never stopped drinking.
Despite having a beautiful family of his own with a loving and working wife and a loving daughter, Sakthi Saravanan never stopped drinking daily.
Even though they continue to cause a lot of trouble in their family, and keep coming through them, they do not give up drinking.
What happened to their family because of this? What happened to Mylswamy’s family after he forgot about drinking and took care of his family and made him a drunkard again.?? Director Sakthi Saravanan has the answer in the second half.
The hero, Angaiyar Kannan, has given what he has been given to act in moderation. He has lived as a character, neither more nor less. Be it the drinking scene, be it the scene where he expresses his love for his wife, be it the scene where he cries in the climax, Angaiyar Kannan has scored well in many places.
Shakti Saravanan gets equal opportunity like the hero to prove his mettle. He has given his best performance.
I couldn’t accept that the film goes on for the entire length of the film showing him getting drunk on the first night and then taking up his drinking habit again the next night. They kept dragging the scenes to the extent that the viewers were asking what happened and told them to give up this alcohol habit.
It seemed that the story could have been written in a better way to add an element of interest. The songs and the background music of the film were a powerful addition to the story.
There is no major flaw in the cinematography either. The editing could have been a bit tighter.
Abhi Nakshatra, though a minor character, has used it sparingly and appropriately.
Actor Sams is amazing with his usual performance of comedy and sentiment.

Actor late Mylaswamy was amazing by giving his much matured performance. Prana, who acted opposite Angaiyar Kannan, performed very beautifully and scored well in the scenes. She has given a mesmerizing performance in her love for her husband.
He has only done occasional comedy work. Even if the story goes up and down, the destination is good and the purpose of the story is positive, which is the strength of the film. Climax is very touching.
Kudos to the director for showing how alcohol destroys families.
If two people quit drinking because of this movie, that is the success of the movie.
