Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat will flag off a cycle rally from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi here on Saturday, an NCC release said.
“The rally is being organized by the NCC Directorate, Gujarat, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, retracing the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi during the ‘Dandi March’ to commemorate the priceless sacrifices made by our forefathers in achieving the path of development and progress towards ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and also to commemorate 75 glorious years of the National Cadet Corps, the largest uniformed organisation in the world,” the statement added.

The seeds of the spirit of ‘Swavalamban’, sown by Mahatma Gandhi, during his epoch making journey is being sprinkled by the NCC Cadets spreading the message of unity, humanity, patriotism and self-reliance. Carrying the spirit of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat ka Safar Swavalamban Ki Aur’, this cycle rally is planned to be conducted from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi from 07 January to 14 January 2023.

The Cycle Rally consisting of 25 young NCC Cadets, both boys and girls, from Gujarat will be covering 422 Kms along the route followed by Mahatma Gandhi during the ‘Dandi March’ through 16 Gandhi Ashrams, culminating at the National Salt Satyagrah Museum (NSSM) at Dandi, wherein the Cycle Rally will merge with the Motor Cycle Rally being planned from Dandi to Delhi, which is celebrating India’s “Salt to Software” journey, culminating at the Prime Minister’s NCC Rally at Delhi on January 28, 2023.

The Cycle rally will traverse the hinter lands in the heart of Gujarat interacting with people from all walks of life, spreading the message of value of freedom and need for ‘Self Reliance’. During the eight days of this adventure sojourn, the rally will touch all 16 Gandhi Ashrams starting from Sabarmati Ashram to Navagam, Matar, Kankapura, Kareli, Ankhi, Amod, Samni, Mangrol, Umrachi, Bhatgam, Delad, Chaprabhata, Vanz, Dhaman and Matvad along the iconic “Dandi Path” finally culminating at Dandi.

At each location the NCC fraternity and NCC alumni will be welcoming these “budding adventurers” along with the civil dignitaries from the local administration. This Rally epitomizes the spirit of adventure and perseverance which NCC is synonymous for. The cycle rally will give the cadets a glance of the cross section of society and instill in them the qualities of persistence, diligence and steadfastness in addition to fostering the adventurous spirit.
The cycle rally truly signifies our Nation’s quest to achieve ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Ka Safar Swavalamban Ki Aur’. Proliferating the spirit of oneness, unity and perseverance, the essence of National campaigns organised by Mahatma Gandhi is being reconstituted through the young minds of Gujarat. At this critical juncture In India’s development story, it is ever more important to realise our multifarious potential in the realms of intellectual, physical and economical domain toward the paths of ‘self-reliance’.
An overwhelming support for the rally has been extended by Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) / AMUL.
