The number of coronavirus cases in Gujarat rose to 1,61,848 after 1,126 new cases were reported on Tuesday, the state health department said.

The COVID-19 death toll in the state reached 3,654 after eight more patients succumbed to the virus, it added.
1,128 patients were discharged on Tuesday, taking the total recovered cases in the state to 1,43,927.
The state’s recovery rate thus increased to 88.93 percent, it said.

The number of new cases on Tuesday again exceeded 1,000 after dropping below it to 996 a day ago after nearly three months.
Surat reported the highest number of 231 new cases on Tuesday while Ahmedabad followed with 178 new cases.
Two other districts that reported over 100 new cases are Vadodara (113) and Rajkot (104).
Among other districts, Jamnagar reported 71 new cases, Mehsana 46, Gandhinagar 43, Narmada 33, Surendranagar 30, Sabarkantha 28, Banaskantha 26, Junagadh 21, Amreli 20, Bharuch 19, Panchmahal 17, Kutch 16, Anand 14, Gir Somnath and Patan 13 each.
Out of eight fatalities recorded on Tuesday, Ahmedabad and Surat reported two each, while Gandhinagar, Mehsana, Rajkot, and Vadodara reported one death each, the health department said.

The number of active cases in Gujarat stands at 14,267, out of which 76 are on the ventilator.
In the neighbouring Union Territory of Daman, Diu, and Dadra, and Nagar Haveli, the number of COVID-19 cases rose to 3,170 with the addition of nine new cases, eight from Daman and one from DNH, officials said.
With 13 more patients getting discharged on Tuesday, the number of recovered cases in the UT rose to 3,129, they said.
Gujarat’s coronavirus figures are as follows: Positive cases 1,61,848, new cases 1,126, death toll 3,654, discharged 1,43,927, active cases 14,267, and people tested so far 54,79,536.
178 new cases, 176 discharged in Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad reported 178 new coronavirus positive cases on Tuesday, raising the count in the district to 40,566, while the toll went up to 1,894 after two patients died, an official said.
At the same time, 176 persons were discharged, increasing the count of recovered patients to 35,206, the health department said in its release.
Ahmedabad city reported 164 new cases and 165 recoveries, while the rural parts reported 14 new cases and 11 recoveries.
Both deaths were reported in city hospitals, said the release.
The number of micro containment areas in Ahmedabad city remained at 108, the civic body said, after ten areas were removed and an equal number were added.
In rural Ahmedabad, the number of COVID-19 cases rose to 2,803 after the addition of 14 cases, while 2,695 people have been discharged so far, leaving it with a recovery rate of 96 percent.
Out of 1,952 beds available in 66 private hospitals for COVID-19 treatment, 1,049, or 53.7 percent, are occupied, as per the Ahmedabad Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association.
