The Institute of Infrastructure, Technology, Research and Management (IITRAM) will mark a significant milestone in its academic journey on September 19, with its 8th Convocation Ceremony set to celebrate 129 graduates stepping out of the institute as qualified professionals, researchers and future innovators.
The convocation will be held from 10.30 am onwards at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Auditorium Hall, Vastral, Ahmedabad, with degrees to be conferred on 116 B.Tech, one M.Tech and 12 PhD graduates.
The ceremony assumes added significance with the first batch of Computer Engineering students graduating this year, marking another important chapter in IITRAM’s evolution as an institution focused on technology, research and innovation.
Among the graduating B.Tech students, six have earned Honours degrees, 15 have secured Minors degrees and one has completed a Microspecialisation.
Academic excellence will also take centre stage, with one Chairman’s Medal, four Gold Medals and four Silver Medals to be presented to meritorious undergraduate students.
The formal conferral of degrees will symbolise more than the completion of an academic programme—it will mark the graduates’ transition from students to IITRAM alumni, carrying with them the institute’s emphasis on innovation, technology and research.
IIM Mumbai Director to inspire graduating cohort
The Chief Guest at the convocation will be Prof. Manoj K. Tiwari, Director, IIM Mumbai, who is expected to inspire the graduating students with his extensive academic, research and institutional leadership experience.
Prof. Tiwari has been the Founding Director of IIM Mumbai since August 2023. Prior to this, he served as Director of the National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai, from 2019 to 2023.
He was a Professor with a Higher Academic Grade in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at IIT Kharagpur and has built a distinguished academic career around optimisation, modelling, decision-support systems and data mining, with applications spanning logistics, supply-chain management and manufacturing.
His research and consultancy engagements have included prominent industry and government organisations such as the Indian Air Force, Procter & Gamble, TATA Hitachi and ports in eastern India. He has also undertaken collaborative research with leading international institutions, including Loughborough University, the University of Cambridge’s Institute for Manufacturing, Warwick Manufacturing Group, Durham University and the University of Connecticut.
With more than 370 research articles in leading international journals and an H-index of 90, Prof. Tiwari is a Fellow of several prestigious national and international academies, including the National Academy of Sciences India, Indian Academy of Sciences, Indian National Academy of Engineering and the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers, USA.
He has also been recognised with the David F. Baker Distinguished Research Award of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers, USA.
A new chapter for IITRAM graduates
The 8th Convocation is expected to bring together students, faculty members, parents and the wider academic community in a celebration of achievement and new beginnings.
For the graduating cohort, the occasion will provide an opportunity to look beyond academic milestones towards careers and research that can contribute to India’s rapidly evolving technology and infrastructure ecosystem.
With the graduation of its first Computer Engineering batch alongside B.Tech, M.Tech and PhD scholars, IITRAM’s 8th Convocation will therefore be both a celebration of achievement and a launchpad for the next generation of technology professionals and researchers.
