Ramakrishnamoorthy V, Global CEO, Impiger Technologies.

Ramakrishnamoorthy V, Global CEO, Impiger Technologies, said, “Impiger Technologies presents Chennai Open Golf Championship 2022! After a 4 year hiatus, PGTI is returning to Chennai with a bang! Impiger Technologies, one of the leading digital transformation solutions providers is excited to bring world-class golfing action back to Chennai.

This is an important event for both PGTI & Chennai, as it will mark the return of professional golf to the city after several years.”

R K Jhaver, Honorary Secretary, TNGF, said, “We are extremely pleased to have the PGTI tournament at the TNGF golf course between 23rd & 26th August 2022. TNGF is staging a PGTI event for the first time and hope it will be well competed amongst the 100+ professionals who have come from across India. The course is small but is very challenging and we do not expect many sub-par scores.”

Sambhu Prasad Sivalenka, Chairman & MD, Amrutanjan Healthcare Ltd, said, “Amrutanjan Healthcare has been associating itself with sports for a long time and we see a good fit between our products and sports, particularly our rehydration and body range products. Our strategic association with PGTI dates back to 2018 and we are honoured to be a ‘Tour Partner’ of PGTI and promote the great game of golf in India. As an organization of over 125 years, we are guided by values, ethics and excellence and no other sport other than golf best reflects these values.

“We are happy that PGTI is back to Chennai after four years and it gives us an immense pleasure to associate with PGTI in this great event again. By partnering in this tournament, we wish to have a very long partnership with PGTI that is mutually rewarding,” Sambhu added.

The Chandigarh-based Golfer Kochhar, who entered the tournament at last minute, said, “The practice round is really important. You get to know about the course and what clubs to use for particular tees. It is going to take a couple of days to get used to but it’s exciting as a player.”

Kochhar’s fellow Asian tour golfer Manu Gandas has already won two titles in the 2022 season and sits in third place. The Gurugram-based golfer, however, does not want to get carried away.

He said, “It is important to take it one event at a time. I am just trying to ensure I do well wherever I play and look at the bigger picture later.”.

On his strategy for the four-day competition, Gandas said, “The course is a bit tricky, no doubt. It would require a bit of risk taking and hopefully I can reap the rewards for it.”

Replying to a query, PGTI CEO Uttam Singh Mundy said that the perception about the Golf game that it belongs to only wealthy people is vanishing. More number of people from humble background has started playing the game and shining. The PGTI is also taking steps to popularize the game among school students.
