Indian Bank on Saturday announced its active participation in the nationwide Digital Life Certificate (DLC) Campaign 2.0 organized by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW), a Government of India initiative.
This campaign, running from November 1 to November 30, 2023, is dedicated to fostering awareness among pensioners regarding the utilization of Face Authentication technology for the submission of Digital Life Certificates (DLC).

Among the 100 cities engaged in this nationwide drive, Indian Bank has been entrusted with overseeing operations in five key cities—Chennai and Trichy in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Lucknow, and Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.

As a significant facet of this ongoing campaign, RK Dutta, Under Secretary to the Government of India, Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare, graced the Mylapore Branch on Friday. During his visit, Dutta actively engaged with pensioners and pensioners’ associations, emphasizing the simplicity inherent in submitting life certificates through the employment of Face Authentication Technology.

In continuation of the campaign to ensure that the benefit of digital modes of Life Certificate submission reaches all pensioners in the remotest corner of Puducherry and also benefits super senior/ sick / incapacitated pensioners, it was conducted the camps at 5 strategic locations – Lawspet, Kamaraj Salai, Puducherry Main, Mudaliarpet and Ariyankuppam.
The Bank is giving due publicity to DLC-Face Authentication Technique through banners and posters, placed at prominent locations. A team of dedicated staff members, equipped with an Android phone, has been created at all the 5 branches of Indian Bank.
Deepak Gupta, Under Secretary from Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare, New Delhi has also visited the locations, along with MeitY and UIDAI teams on Saturday and explained the whole process to the pensioners. He requested all stakeholders to popularise the aforesaid user friendly Face Authentication Technique amongst all pensioners to make their life comfortable.
The concerned officers from Indian Bank Puducherry Zonal Office, Kumar Doure, Zonal Manager, T Paramaraj, Deputy Zonal Manager, Branch Managers of 5 DLC Camp Locations, Nidhin Narayanan, Chief Manager, Gunjan Tiwari, Chief Manager, Swaminathan, Chief Manager, Prashant Singh, Chief Manager, R Rajesh, Senior Manager, K Chaitanya Bharath, Asst Manager and Prof G Ramalingam from JIPMER Pensioners Association, Puducherry, David Siemons and Sriram Kalisetty from UIDAI attended the campaign.
In 2014, submission of DLCs using biometric devices was commenced. Subsequently, the Department engaged with MeitY and UIDAI to develop a Face Authentication technology system, based on Aadhar database, whereby it is possible to submit LC from any Android based smart phone. As per this facility, the identity of a person is established through face authentication technique and DLC gets generated. This breakthrough technology, launched in November 2021, reduced the dependence of pensioners on external bio-metric devices and made the process more accessible and affordable to masses by leveraging smartphone-based technology.
