‘King of Kotha’ is Salmaan’s seventh project as a producer but first period action-drama in his over a decade long career.
“I’ve been part of this from the seed to the multiple drafts, it boils down to the story, and it is rich in characters. There are many more actors on board and every character drives the narrative in some way,” he said.
Director Abhilash Johi’s ‘King of Kotha’ has lots of twists and turns during first half. The story of a drug mafia gang headed by Kanna (Shabir) keeps the city of Kotha under his control. Hasan (Prasanna) appointed as new police officer wanted to put an end to the mafia gang’s atrocities and its illegal activities from Kotha city.
Trailer:
How Hasan finds of out Raju (Dulquer Salman) a friend of mafia gang leader Kanna, who once ruled the city of Kotha. Why did Raju left the city of Kotha and what happened then is the rest of the story.
Despite action scenes comes one after another, the story moves very slowly.
Dulquer Salman plays and he carries the film on his shoulders completely.
Though Dulquer Salman is doing a character for the first time with mass touch, he perfectly fitted for the role.
Dulquer elevated scenes and carried a lot of scenes with intensity too. Shabir played a completely different role from what he did in ‘Sarpatta’.
Aishwarya Lekshmi is fine in terms of acting. Naila did well her part as villain’s wife. Ritika Singh’s item song is awesome. Chemban Vinod is impressive as an English-speaking don. It was shot in Karaikudi area of Tamil Nadu.
The movie is dubbed in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada.
