With 25 years of academic excellence, strategic communication expertise and institution-building experience, Dr. Tewari will spearhead MICA’s brand leadership and stakeholder experience initiatives.
In an era when institutional reputation is shaped as much by meaningful engagement as by academic excellence, MICA is strengthening its strategic positioning with the elevation of Prof. Dr. Ruchi Tewari as its Chief Marketing & Experience Officer (CMXO). The appointment marks a significant step towards enhancing the institute’s brand leadership, deepening stakeholder relationships and enriching the experiences of learners, alumni, industry partners and the wider academic community.
A distinguished academician, researcher, corporate trainer and institution builder, Dr. Tewari brings more than 25 years of experience spanning higher education, strategic communication, business ethics, corporate governance and cross-cultural communication. Her elevation reinforces MICA’s ambition to integrate its academic legacy with a forward-looking approach to brand building and stakeholder engagement.
Dr. Tewari holds a PhD in Management, with research focused on CSR communication in the Indian IT sector, besides an MPhil and an MA in English Literature. Her academic journey includes teaching and professional contributions at leading institutions such as IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Rohtak, the National Rail and Transportation Institute (NRTI) and the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), among others.
Her multidisciplinary expertise encompasses strategic communication, corporate social responsibility, business ethics and technology-mediated human communication—areas increasingly central to how institutions build trust, communicate purpose and engage diverse audiences.
A scholar with a strategic outlook
Beyond the classroom, Dr. Tewari has established a substantial research portfolio, authoring more than 40 peer-reviewed research papers and several book chapters. She has also co-authored books on strategic communication and partnership building. Her research has been presented at prominent international forums, including the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) and the Academy of Marketing Science (AMS).
Her scholarly interests extend to contemporary questions surrounding emotional intelligence, digital behaviour and algorithmic media, reflecting the changing dynamics of communication in an increasingly technology-driven world.
Dr. Tewari also brings extensive industry-facing experience to her new role. With more than 1,000 hours of corporate training delivered to academic and industry audiences, she has worked on communication effectiveness, critical thinking, strategic storytelling and crisis communication. She has conducted faculty development programmes and served as a trainer for organisations including ISRO and MGLI.
Leadership rooted in responsibility
Commenting on her elevation, Dr. Tewari said, “It is a matter of pride for me, but I also feel a deep sense of responsibility. I understand that this means advancing the institute’s brand, enhancing learner and alumni experiences and strengthening MICA’s engagement with industry, academia, and society.”
Her appointment brings together academic insight, research-driven thinking and practical communication expertise at a time when educational institutions are seeking to create more distinctive identities and enduring relationships with their stakeholders.
As CMXO, Dr. Tewari is expected to contribute to strengthening MICA’s brand presence and institutional engagement, further supporting its standing as a globally respected centre for marketing, communication, creativity and leadership education.
