Development finance bank, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development [NABARD], announced that it has sanctioned Rs 2,989.76 crore under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) – XXVI to the Government of Gujarat for Irrigation (6), Education (1), and Drinking water supply (1) projects during the year 2020-21, a release said.
The 6 irrigation projects include Tapi-Karjan Lift Irrigation Scheme (Ukai Reservoir based) (Rs.656.58 crore), TharadSipu Pipeline Project –Package I & II (Rs.462.33 crore), UKAI Reservoir Based Songadh, Ucchal, and Nizar Lift Irrigation Scheme (Rs. 905.15 crore), Construction of Barrage in Hirpura village (Rs.138.53 crore), Construction of Barrage in Valasana village (Rs. 124.41 crore), 3 irrigation projects in Mahisagar district (Rs.115.54 crore). On completion of these projects irrigation potential of 65882 ha area will be created, the release addded.
Further, for Drinking Water Supply, an amount of Rs. 502.04 crore has been sanctioned under RIDF for Navda to Chavnad Bulk Pipeline project and for Education, an amount of Rs. 85.18 crore has been sanctioned under RIDF for the Construction of 13 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV).
With the above sanctions, the cumulative loan assistance sanctioned under the RIDF to the Government of Gujarat aggregates to Rs 32,218 crore.
