As part of creating awareness among farmers and exporters about cashew cultivation and exports, Tamil Nadu Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare MRK Panneer Selvam on Thursday flagged off of cashew consignments from Cuddalore to Qatar & Malaysia.

Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) celebrated National Cashew Day in major cashew producing/processing states viz., Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Orissa, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Meghalaya, on Thursday, 23rd November 2023.
Incidentally, Indian cashew nuts is recognized as one of the significant agricultural product with global demand.
“One District One Product”, (ODOP) a program of the Govt. of India which aims to select, brand and promote products from the Districts has identified District Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu for Cashew nuts which contributes significantly to India’s overall cashew export.
To promote Govt. of India initiative “ODOP” and to motivate Cashew farmers, processors and traders from the District, APEDA Chennai organized National Cashew Day in Cuddalore District on 23rd November by flagging off 15 MTs of cashew nuts to Doha, Qatar and another consignment of 15.876 MTs of cashew nuts to Perak, West Malaysia.
The flag off ceremony was organized by APEDA jointly with The Tamil Nadu Cashew Processors & Exporters Association (TNCPEA). The export shipments were flagged off by Abhishek Dev, Chairman APEDA, virtually along with other dignitaries T Velmurugan, MLA, Panruti Assembly constituency, District Collector Dr A Arun Thamburaj, IAS, TNCPEA members, key stakeholders and industry experts.
15 MTs and 15.876 MTs of cashew nuts by M/s. Pratipa Cashews and M/s. Swathini Cashews were shipped to Qatar and Malaysia, according to Shobana Kumar, Assistant General Manager, APEDA.
